A list of scams found 2018 (upd march 17)

this list is gonna depict scams that exists, this list will be updated weekly

1. 1bitcoin.win

Type of scam: HYIP/ponzi scheme

1bitcoin.win is another "doubler" scam that claims to double your investment the next day. Do not invest on it, they will steal your coins. Couldn't find more info about this site as they have kept themselves under the radar

2. Faucet.cloud

Scam Type: cloud mining scam

Faucet.cloud is another cloud mining scam that is Russian. It's the same owners that created the scam site: metizer.com. They have no payment proof, and they also give you a free 200 ghs of mining power. No mining company gives out that much mining power.  
The owner also has a very high withdrawal rate, which makes it hard to earn enough to withdraw it
3. Bheemcoin

Scam Type: faucet scam

Created by the same owner that made 5 star mining, this faucet shows false payment proof, and is literally copyrighting a famous Indian cartoon called: chota bheem. The owner: pramila28 has not responded to complaints and has accused people for hacking, which is bullshit. She has been tagged, and faucets from her isn't to be trusted.

How can you avoid being scammed?

1. Use common sense, there is no way that you can earn a lot of money from 24 hours of work.

2. Never download random software from bitcoin earning site, it could contain malware, so it would be smart to use VirusTotal: https://www.virustotal.com to check if anything contains viruses.

3: don't be a greedy person: don't think that you can earn easy money, you have to earn it. Don't invest in something that you can't afford to lose

Use badbitcoin.com site. Here you able to find the many fake sites information than anywhere you can get. Check the site there and add the fake site waiting to scam the newbies to your thread.

Some notable scams that I have on top of my head:

1. hashocean (cloud mining)
2. HYIPs
3. Those casinos that scammed people through
 a. Running away with the money
 b. Cheating users
 c. Not giving out bonuses

Probably those can help you write more to this thread.

Stuff like this is very depressing. It's so painfully obvious and they almost always have the exact same hallmarks yet people continue to fall for them. Even when one set wises up there's a new one along a few minutes later who'll refuse to listen.

Ik, it's mostly the greedy people that fall for scams.

To be complete you could also speak about the scams found here on Bitcointalk and how to avoid them with basic rules (some of which have could be used efficiently elsewhere): don't trust locked or self moderated threads (unless explained why), always use escrow...

It’s one or a combination of several factors which promote and sustain this plague. Greed is one. It’s a common human trait to want something excessively. Then you have gullibility. Scams have become so sophisticated that you read and hear of stories of people who are 100% convinced that a coin doubler works or that using escrow is a waste of time. Some are so hypnotized and blinded that they will still send their coins to scammers even when shown damning and glaring evidence of the scam.

Sad. People should really be much more careful. Fraud can never be eliminated but it can be mitigated by common sense and prudence. Always use escrow when transacting with strangers. Don’t ignore red flags and be vigilant. Scammers make mistakes too and detecting those mistakes is the key to stopping these thieves on their tracks.

Apparently, what seems obvious to us appears perfectly plausible to a certain group of people. Research has shown quite comprehensively that these scammers actually have found the working formula to target the very same people who'd fall for them. It's almost a niche industry in itself. Our only defence is skepticism... And continuous education for newcomers.

I generally leave people to fall for these, but crypto and bitcoin are getting hit pretty hard unfairly. And to add, I have a couple of people close to me who fell for similar scams. Elderly and lost a bit of their pensions. Wish I'd got to them first. Keep talking about it, keep spreading awareness.

smaller coins (as I'm in support of Slimcoin, they contact me to list Slimcoin), which they say some bs, such "we want to list you, because we see innovation, and want to provide boost to volume",
with a fee of 2.5ETH.

When asked about email - they sent it, and email address is correct - but of course you can't respond to this mail, andthe worst is that it's Received-SPF: softfail - which basically means, that it wasn't sent from Zaif exchange mail servers, also ip is contradcting (but it's less a evidence, because they can always be having some cloudflare, or other service provider for it).

I hope that no-one will be caught in such obvious scam.

The only ones that falls for these scams are the greedy, they think everything is a get rich quick scheme

It's a good idea but the list will be infinite...

New scams will pop up all the time, way faster than people can update it.

One of the biggest scams that are still running is hashflare, in my opinion. It literally altered people's contracts so that they can end up paying less to contract holders by reducing the lifetime contracts that the users bought to a measly 1 year term.

Though they haven't actually refused any withdrawals, their withdrawal minimum has been adjusted to a figure that is way too high to even make a withdrawal at all if you invest a small amount.

Good luck with this, hopefully you can keep this updated. But the best thing to use is common sense, as you said. If you're not greedy you won't get scammed in the first place.

I would also suggest if you can list those people who scammed others so people will be aware of them, yeah I know there the negative trust that can be seen in profile but it would be better to list them so they will be more shameful from what they did.
