Have not ever heard about any problems with Metamask. For now it is safe and never discredited app.

I am very wary using software website that will use your private key to the trade, I only use my private on  myetherwallet, or I use an empty wallet with only the token that I am going to trade it's much safer this way.

I think, there is no such thing as a safe wallet. Because, everything on the internet is hackable.  Some wallet might provide extra security. I wish that someone will create a centralized wallet where we can easily track the transaction and get it back just in case the wallet got hack. I know that it is impossible for now but I hope one day someone with great mind push for it.
