Monero V will be forked out of Monero and will have mining features. The date was postponed due to a number of issues including problems with storing the coins locally. Also, the problems with software updates and need for more time to check privacy issues.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

This thread should be in the altcoin discussion.

In my opinion, this just gives me a bit more time to buy more Monero as long as they keep their promises and fix what's needed.
