Can't help thinking about "Gypsy cabs" from "Alongside Night" spearheading the agorist transformation. Uber/Hailo-style app+BTC+multi-billion-dollar highly fragmented worldwide market up for grabs, anyone?

This would be brilliant, much better to scan a QR code and press send than to fumble around with change, especially when drunk! Smiley

One main hurdle to get over is the cabbies figuring out how to accept bitcoins themselves (so they can keep certain transactions off the books)...

Coinbase for selling BTCs
Fold for spending BTCs
PM me with any questions on these sites/apps!  http://www.montybitcoin.com

or Vircurex for trading alt cryptocurrencies like DOGEs
CoinNinja for exploring the blockchain.

There is an interesting discussion about using airports for otc transactions that would serve foreign visitors needing local cash.

Even better would be taxi drivers (or their agorist ride share equivalent) who accepted bitcoins and who could also do a side business exchanging fiat for bitcoins.  Deals would likely have to be arranged in advance, like a driver service, for the safety of both drivers and the passengers.

I haven't really used taxi's because of the cost, but regularly see people utilize them in populated areas, hope this works out for them.

That's why the app should be probably "AirBnB-style" - why can't ANYONE be its own taxi in your BTC-based system? Feedback system takes care of reputation while you're just providing info/metering services and take a small cut for this. Highly scalable, global expansion only a matter of localization/geo services availability.

Start in major metro areas, spread like a wildfire. Disrupt the whole rigid industry with their "medallions", "taxi licenses" and all such nonsense.
