I am basically new to the forum but I am not new to the space, I have read a lot about the forum and would love to  participate in Translation Bounty, but I am a native English speaker and would love to take up the task to learn a new language.

Can anyone help with advice?

If you would try to learn German I recommend this site for e-learning:
https://deutsch.info/en

When you pass all the tests there you can go to some language school to study it further.

Do you have any experience at all in German? I myself am German and compared to English it's a bit harder to learn, but there are also other languages that are way more difficult to learn. If you already have a bit of experience, did you ever consider audiobooks? It's a great way to learn a language. Take a book you like (and read) and try the audiobook. Maybe you have a favorite book that you already read several times. It's an awesome and fun way to explore a language.

Best of luck to you Smiley

Learn a language is a long tern process if you want to reach higher level.
Here is some tip might help you
1.   Connect with a native speaker. Hands down, the best way to learn a new language is to speak it. ...
2.   Study the language every day. ...
3.   Carry a dictionary at all times. ...
4.   Watch, listen, read and write in your chosen language. ...
5.   Visit a country where your chosen language is spoken.
