I think the merit system is a good idea to drive away a lot of needless posts and make sure in most parts they are of higher quality.

However I am assuming that most of the lower quality messages come from people who are trying to rank up for signature campaigns? It wouldn't be surprising to think that some users have multiple accounts and are trying to rank them all up take more stakes  in the campaigns. (I have did a little work on some of the bounty spreadsheets and found one user looked to have 7 accounts that were all different levels of activity!).

For someone who runs multiple accounts its easy enough for them to just log into another account and pass over the merit to a low activity user to rank them up?

So it will only affect new single account users if that makes sense?

What you describe is definitely a kind of merit abuse (assuming the post quality that got merited was low).
Merit would still affect all of us, even if they were already has a high-rank they will eventually get punished for their merit abuse.

You should report it if you found something like that. Not only they cheated a campaign, they were also abusing their merit for their alts.

Yes, users with multiple accounts can benefit by trading merit between themselves but they'll soon run out. Trading merit is also a way people can spot alts easily and if found their accounts will likely receive negative feedback thus ruining them all. For most it's probably not worth the risk but for those that try there are people who will punish this behaviour.

What accounts do you believe you spotted?

You better read some of those threads about merit system, you will see some event that can benefit you and earn some merits by reporting those merit abusers and account farmers.

That's pretty simple. Let's say there's one dude with one main and 3 alt accounts. First month he gives all to one account, ok he got his rank, but... if tries to do that once more, he'll get caught for sure and will receive neg trust since then there would be only his alt accounts giving merit. Pretty simple, don't try to cheat it anyhow.

Need some spare btc for a new PC that can at least run Adobe Dreamweaver.

I didn’t notice there was a way to report the alts but I have now.

This person looks to have 6 or 7 accounts through transferring the money into one account.

Looks like he was reported before though and I still doing it month on.

Either way all I can do is highlight it I guess

Yes, every member who see any Abuse with Merit can report it to DT. And, all suspected account will investigated. So, play safe and say no to cheating.
In Meta we can see many Merit Abuser and easily detected.
