Newcomers beware, lots of choices to buy your first coin, I can imagine it's extremely confusing. Someone above suggested Coinbase... ordinarily I'd caution against using centralised services but then you probably should go for an option like that: somewhat solid reputation, easy to do, licensed so offers you some protection. Just make sure you complete all verifications required at any exchange before you purchase. And make sure you move the coins to your own wallet as soon as you can - it's yours, you ought to be the only one with access to it (storing it on the exchange means they have access).

Me, I always recommend Localbitcoins. Nothing like getting your first Bitcoins from a fellow user. Just make sure you only buy from experienced traders with good history and feedback, and only only ever use e-scrow.

First place may be your local exchange, then coinbase, bitfinex if you can deposit usd or buy it through credit card. Localbitcoins if there is no local exchange in your country.

Depending on your location, you can even buy at kiosks these days if you don't want to use an online exchange.

If you live in the Philippines, it would be better if you have coins.ph, because you can convert your philippine money to bitcoin , just go to the 7eleven store or any branch that you can cash in your coins.ph , and invest your money there. Your money will be directed to your coins.ph account, then convert your PHP money, into Bitcoin.

First you should check your location because many sites are available in the market but few of them only supporting to your country. I am always suggested to localbitcoins and coinbase both are trusted site but you should check this is supporting to your country or not. But you must carefully check the ratings of the users because many spam users are available in the crypto market.

There's actually a lot of exchange where you can buy your first bitcoin. However, you should be cautious and aware of what you are going into. Try to read the rules and regulations and make sure that you know what you are doing. Try buying on your local exchange because it's the first safest thing you could try to buy your first coin.

One of the simplest options is buying bitcoins through the exchanger. This operation is fast, and exchange rates are quite profitable. With each passing day, there are more and more electronic exchange points. Accordingly, the competition among them is very large. In the struggle for customers, exchangers reduce their commissions and try to make an exchange as quickly as possible. It is convenient that through exchangers you can buy bitcoins in many ways. It is possible from other electronic payment systems or even from a bank account. For the last couple of years I managed to work with two or three dozen different exchangers. By the way, I have never encountered deception.

I prefer Coinbase as an American customer. My experience with them is good so far and they seem to have a good reputation. Be prepared to provide identification and bacons account information to get your account set up with them.

You could look at localbitcoins as an option, but it could depend on your location. There may be other options if you are not in the US.

You can buy Bitcoin directly from an exchange like Coinbase. You can also invest in tools like bitcoin investment trusts that track Bitcoin prices.

Make an account with an exchange site and buy btc by transferring directly from your bank--that's as easy as it gets. Learn about wallets and how to secure your coins first before purchasing, however! There is plenty of information on that in this forum. Anyway, there are many exchanges out there, I'm not sure where you are located but gemini or coinbase are popular options for people who are fairly new. If you are outside of the U.S., bitfinex is a good option.

Cheers!

you can buy it in exchange, or a local exchange that includes purchases through your local currency.
but you should try first to find a lot of information about merchandise, bitcoin and the market.

Buying bitcoins depends on you location and government rules. In my country we have some exchanges that are direct to banks and other remittance companies. In other countries where it is open then I guess even a credit/debit card will do. Best thing is to ask some people in your place especially that sometimes charges and rates aren't the same and buying huge amounts make those differences material enough.
