According to this news report, "Nvidia Mining GPU to Be Launched Sooner Than Expected", https://news.bitcoin.com/nvidia-mining-gpu-to-be-launched-sooner-than-expected-reports/New Reports suggest that Nvidia is going to launch a mining GPU sooner than previously expected. The graphics unit comes with features that cryptocurrency miners will find attractive. According to leaked specifications, the Inno3D card is based on the gaming GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. Well, everybody knows that the demand for graphics cards is extremely high, so, if this happens, do you think card prices would get back to where they were years ago?

The demand is slowing for cards as we see stock staying longer and longer in stock as each day passes. Add in these mining cards having a 3-month warranty and absolutely no resale value to anyone except miners, who will be wary of the limited or no warranty. I really don't see the point of these cards and I will not be purchasing any at this point. You are most likely better off waiting for those new miners that bought high and are freaking about the market and trying to panic sell to get a card with 2-3 years left on warranty and at a discount.

Hello All.
I think is just a movement from nvidia to continue increasing the benefits from the 10xx series when the new 20xx series will arrive. And also this equipment has a problem with warranty, it's not possible to sell it in europe with just a warranty of 3 months, and at the current prices, would you buy a hardware that has a warranty life shorter than the ori of this hardware? With a Roi of 1 or 2 months would be a interesting investment, with the current prices is a risky investment.

nope. Mining cards are nothing new, p104 and p106 have been out for months and the only people who actually own them either buy in bulk straight out of the factory or pay stupid high prices for individual ones in mining specialized estores. This model isn't going to change anything. The problem is GDDR5 availability - regular GPUs, mining GPUs, smartphones and consoles all need them so this card is just going to be another pebble behind that bottleneck.

maybe the price of GPU is a bit less when the manufacturer will new release cards, but will not go back to normal as before. I was reading Asrock will also enliven the GPU market. especially NVIDIA, I can't wait for whether their latest card is better than the previous card.

Well to be fair these new P102 cards are using GDDR5X and they use a different PCB from normal GDDR5 because of more pins per chip. I'm not 100% sure but I think Micron is still the only one producing GDDR5X. GP-102 always used gddr5x.

P104-100 could do 40 mh/s with tuned timing, it's ddr5x 256bit. The quote from article is P102-100 - ddr5x 320-bit and hashrate is ~47 mh/s. I think if it has the mining bios, it could do further 50+ mhs ETH for sure even it's based off of 1080 Ti, because of its wider memory bus. My distributor said somebody here already made reservation with ~ 1025$/unit. Actually, I dont think I would be ready for that price.

This card would produce 60$ monthly, so de roi would be 15-16 months, but you can buy 3 1060 cards for the dame price producing between 60 to 75 Mh/s so at 1000$ i think there are more profitable gpus on the market

The P104 (1070) also uses GDDR5X. These Nvidia P mining GPU's are just stripped down Pascal cards with a shitty warranty and tweaked Bios for better timings and energy efficiency, like you can do yourself with AMD Polaris cards.

I don't understand why NVIDIA refused to install a mounting bracket of the GPU. This bracket is needed to mount on the rig. Maybe this will be fixed later? I think that the release of these GPU does not significantly affect the price of GPU. People will continue to use for mining all of the GPU which will be able to buy. The price will also not decrease because the price dictates the market and the deficit will not disappear.

With the release of mining gpus, are they going to restrict mining with regular gpus? I think there will be always a method like (bios flash) to overcome this limitation and prices of gpus will be still high depending on how long this bear market goes...

Yes, but we must understand that these novelties will be overpriced, considering the demand. Now it is almost impossible to buy cards without pre-order.

I like that Nvidia correctly understands the needs of customers and develops in this direction. Always glad to read new announcements of equipment.

Why the hell did they decide to launch GPUs for mining while bitmain is going to release ASIC for them. If bitmain achieve it's goal, then nvidias products will turn from good to worse. Maybe they have another plans too but in any ways currently it's very acceptable. Really want to see what will happen to prices of gtx 1070 and all great gpus, for example rx 580 and others.

Not really, they are coming to Europe and US as well, but are hard to find through regular retail channels.
