And so it begins! Well it just shows that Baikal and Bitmain have been responsible for the huge difficulty increases

This looks like...a very bad idea.
Monero is about to have an algo change and they release this, how stupid do they think we are?

It probably is. Esp. with that 3 month delivery lead time. Daily profit with 220kh and 550w as of today rate is around $164 USD. Who knows what it'll be 3 months from now? It may not even be useable anymore if cryptonight coins fork their code.

yup they probably have been running these bitches for six months or longer in some form another it just goes to show , all these gpu shortages we are seeing are upstream supply chain shortages basically bitmain ia buying up alot of the ram needed for regulular gpus

yeah.
Not worth it to buy batch 2.
Even with batch 1, the diff will increase fast and that $165 will drop.
at $12k, on top of the shipping, custom duties will be very high! need to calculate that too.

Makes you think how long bitmain has used these ASICs for themselves. They could have earned a lot by now. This is probably one of the reasons why mining cryptonight has been massively less profitable lately.
Too bad for those who bought the RX VEGA for mining cryptonight.

You just gotta love how there are not one but two threads on this.
Bitmain sure brings the hype to the crypto markets. Can't wait for some new and more professional mining company to blow them away.

A total waste of money. It's way more risky than gambling. Monero is gonna fork. You will spend 12k to have a not so nice looking stop for your door.

I somewhat agree. The risks on this ASIC are far too much. With that price tag, its almost as if they don't want you to reach ROI. I feel like bitmain has gotten overly confident with selling ASICS, probably because there are some people that will still buy those ASICs.. For what reason i do not know

But i've read some people argue that there are simple workarounds that can be made to overcome whatever the monero team does? It seems the argument was that cryptonight, by nature, is no longer ASIC-proof now that they've found a way to do it.

Well, depends when you bought them. If you did back in sept/oct last year then you will have ROIed some time ago. But yeah, recent diff rises are clearly related to BM 'testing' these...
