I don't want to badmouth or insult Pacquiao, but I think it may be better for him to concentrate on his career in politics. He is already 40 years old and I am afraid that the fight against Matthysse may be one-sided.

The Dude is done but i guess he can still sell a fight and make good money from his fame even though he might end up loosing so i think so long as he doesn't see anything wrong in tarnishing his reputation by loosing fights then we should leave him to make his money. It's good business dude!

I agree with you. As long as people want to watch him fighting, why I should be having problem with it? And I still remember Vitaly Klitschko fighting Manuel Charr in 2012, when the former was 40 years old.

Even if Senator Manny can still fill arenas, that doesn't mean its not the time to hang up the gloves yet. What Manny's camp should look at is his capacity to fight, can he still fight younger boxers and win. Manny is already a Legend and a future hall of famer. I would rather see him hang up the gloves while he is still on very good shape, than retire because someone knocked him out cold.

It's true, but he isn't a heavyweight, so he probably still has quite decent speed. And it's not like Matthysse is exactly young, it's not a young vs old fight by any means. Middleweights and below tend to maintain their speed up until around 40, so at worst Pacquiao still has a punchers chance, or at best he'll still be the same as when he fought Mayweather. It's very unlikely he'll get knocked out cold, even an old Pacquiao is still a beast.

I agree with you, Manny may be old but he still is deadly as he used to be. Matthysse should not be complacent about their age difference specially when he is facing a legend like Manny.

Anyone is afraid of manny's powerpunch we saw it already eveb he losses he give a mark that his punches was to strong. Age doesn't matter Manny still have a pride to fight and to win a fight. Confidefence? It will help Matthysse but in fight we will going to see how he will endure the punches.

Manny lost his killer instinct already, his punches became weaker as time passes by, the speed and stamina are still somehow intact. I guess he only has a lower chance to win a KO against an opponent these days, lets accept the fact that he's out of his prime already. But, he can still make a sell-out crowd, because everyone wants to see his fights, as he is one of the greatest boxer in the world. A living legend.

There were reports that the fight "might" be postpone:

Quote
De La Hoya: I Feel 'Very Confident' Pacquiao-Matthysse Happens

There has been a lot of reports of the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Lucas Matthysse, scheduled for July 14th in Malaysia, not taking place as there are some financial issues plaguing that event.

Golden Boy Promotions and Matthysse had been waiting on some money due to them the past few weeks.

https://www.boxingscene.com/de-la-hoya-i-feel-very-confident-pacquiao-matthysse-happens--129425

The reports seems to point to MP promotions unable to provide the needed money and a shortage of $2M in financing. I honestly believed that this is just a ploy to attract boxing fans specially in the US to buy the PPV, sort of marketing.

Mattysse already received his money and on his way to Malaysia as reported:

Quote
t took longer than promised but Golden Boy Promotions and Lucas Matthysse have received their funds from the organizers of the July 14th event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

So with that said, Matthysse and his crew will be flying out there for his scheduled date with Manny Pacquiao on Tuesday.

"We have a fight, everything's great, everything's perfect," confirmed Eric Gomez, the president of Golden Boy, on Monday afternoon ."They're flying out tomorrow, we're looking forward to it. Lucas is ready and he's ready to defend his title against a legend."

https://www.boxingscene.com/matthysse-receives-his-money-heads-malaysia-on-tuesday--129632

So its really set and ready to go. Its only about 10 days to go and I hope that Lucas can acclimatized himself on a hot weather in Malaysia. As for Manny, no adjust needed because Malaysia and the Philippines have the same weather (almost).

I think too many people in this thread are bashing Pacquiao... I mean come on, he is a straight monster. Yes he's getting a little bit old, but he's not exactly a pensioner, he's not even 40 yet? Don't you guys remember Klitschko almost hooping Anthony Joshua at 41? And he's a HW! Pacquiao is going to hammer this fool.

Nothing do last forever which everyone knows and for a fighter there would be definitely a time where those capacity of ours would pass away and this is what we are seeing on Pacquiao.I agree that he doesnt already have that killer instinct when he do fight inside the ring which if you are a follower into his all fights you would be missing out those things to his present fights. Power wont really be the same, movements compared when hes still young but well he do already prove himself to the world. Win or lose on this fight wont really be a big deal.

I agree that Manny's performance in the last couple of fights has somewhat dwindling because of politics and age factor. His not that  the same monster anymore like 5 years ago. But this fight will really show that he still has that power in his left that might hammer out Lucas in a KO or even a TKO victory. This fight will prove his detractor wrong again. So perhaps we can judge him after this fight if he still have the will and the speed to take out opponents or just old enough and no longer his prime and should retire for good.

I've read many bashers saying Manny was too old to fight for boxing, but I must question on those people! How are they doing for their health? Are they doing what Manny did for his life? These people who bashed the champion and a senator is worth inspiring, knowing that he serves both the country's reputations on boxing sports together serving the nation. We will see all those bashers will shut their mouth after all winning decisions will be made, when we withness his live fight with Mattyse this coming July 15.

Even the GOAT from previous era has bashers, but those greats have records to back up all their claim. So Manny is no exceptions and even if he win against Lucas coming July 15, there will be a lot of excuses for them to trash talk and bash him more. Yeah he did a lot for his country and now serving as a Senator, I don't know if other boxers can topple can achievement inside the ring with multiple belts in different divisions and then elected in one of the highest governing body in the country.

Manny is truly a legend, he does not need to prove anything but of course if you can still fight and make money, why not?
The game is gonna be happening soon, but I don't feel the excitement like before because he lose in his last fight and it seems like he is not on his prime anymore.

The Dude is done but i guess he can still sell a fight and make good money from his fame even though he might end up loosing so i think so long as he doesn't see anything wrong in tarnishing his reputation by loosing fights then we should leave him to make his money. It's good business dude!

We can't dictate what Pacquiao should do. We don't even know his capacity. It's his own body not ours. Capacity to fight? That's not a question anymore. Let him do what he wants. Even with lots of money why he didn't focused on other things? There are lots of things that he can produce more money rather than his current earnings in boxing but still he fight.

So why? That question can only be answered by Manny Pacquaio itself and we have to respect that.

About the last fight with Jeff Horn? oh well look on who's making the crowd noisier, it's still Manny Pacquiao right? But due to his humbleness and he doesn't want to take it to a longer discussion, he had had enough with it and he knew it coming. A cooking show was settled before the fight.

That is i think the problem that pacman will now always be facing since he is now a different person. He is more humble and down to earth which makes other people think that they can easily manipulate every fight that favors to their fighter without receiving any complain from pacman. That is also why pacman should go for a KO in the next fight to prevent the result of the cooking show

However, as pacman have said in his previous interviews, KO will eventually come so he really doesn't need to go unless it has presented itself. We still remember how Marquez took him out because he is very aggressive and looking to knock Marquez down but he was brutally KO because of that lucky punch. He maybe humble but he is a different animal inside the ring, that's for sure.

He is but definitely not the same dominant manny pacquiao. A lot of things has happened already and boxing isn't his focus anymore aside from the obvious fact that he's aging already. Don't expect a knockout or even an exciting fight this time. Probably a long technical one is more likely to happen. That is, since he still doesn't want to hang up his gloves.

Indeed, pacman is not as dominantas before but he still has most of his power. Expecting a knockout from his power is still up. Yes pacman is aging but his power and speed is still there. The problem why most of the time pacman don't go for knockout is because of his mindset. After that he change his religion he is a total different person.
