Does only the topic/title itself defines how many bitcointalkers view and click on my post (e.g. in Altcoin Disucssions) or does my status influence my post's visibility? I barely get a view and I'm not sure what the reason is. Besides probably that there are hundreds of posts every day and you can get lost quite quickly.

Any tips on how I can get some answers/discussions for topics I post (let's assume they're interesting  Cheesy)?

Your status has nothing to do with how many members see your post.
The two things that mostly matter are the title and content of your post. An interesting title will attract users to click on your post and a high quality content would make them want to engage into discussion with you, thus replying to your post. And with every reply your thread is bumped to the first page for more people to be able to see it.

The most important three things are location, location and location.

Location - the board on which you have started the thread.
Location - How far down the index page is your thread.
Location - Is the board a sub-board or a main board

After that your thread title is the main draw. Don't use all caps, some people think that if you have to shout, then you haven't got anything meaninful to say. Pique the interest of your reader by making your thread sound interesting. Just posting 'question', or 'Bitcoin' isn't going to turn anybody on.

I don't think status is relevant, but if somebody thinks that you post great info, then they are likely to open your thread.

I guess posts that are likely to get people involved in the discussion reach a critic mass whereby people keep coming to see new replies, that gets your post visibility higher and always topping others

I can give a concrete example from a post I opened this morning (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3138651.msg32440461#msg32440461) where the title is:

Is Slack still a legitimate choice for new projects?

Anything particularly wrong/boring with this title? I know it's very subjective but I value all of the comments I've read here so far.

I agree, shouting or suchlike may not help at all. Location is key but it's just the result of a quality title and quality content and therefore engagement I guess.

Some categories get more traffic than others. Also, certain topics draw more attention than others. You may just be posting about topics that are not as mainstream as others or you may be posting abou an altcoin that few people on this forum know about or will have input on. I don’t think it has anything to do with the person creating the topic or their rank.

Well for me you've failed on two of the location factors, but then I don't look at the alt boards.
I suspect that you have started the thread on the correct board, so the only thing to consider is the quality of the readers of that board. From what I read about the alt posters, your topic may be too serious of sensible for them. That raises the possibility of an alt technical board - would there be enough demand for one?

Love that idea as your right, most of the discussion going on there is just about new alts and less about technical meta-level discussions. The latter though goes under right now as they're the minority.

I'm fairly certain you aren't doing anything wrong.  As the others have rightly pointed out, it's just that of all the places to attempt a high level discussion about development, the altcoins subforum is probably the hardest place to do that.  Most people there are just looking to pump and dump crapcoins for profit, so anything even remotely technical tends to get swiftly brushed aside.  It's all about the hype and buzzwords to get as much attention as possible for whatever it is they're selling.  The whole reason for the altcoins subforum is to keep all of that marketing schtick separate from the "proper" discussions.

The best solution I can think of is that you could leave the altcoin part out of the topic altogether and just frame the discussion around the pros and cons of each platform.  Then it's suitable for Project Development because it also applies to Bitcoin and your thread will hopefully find its desired target audience.

It's a pity that you can't post on the serous discussion board, you might have got some comments there.

You need a bit more activity though.

I don't look at post counts and activity and the like, but I think some of the boards don't count towards activity, so you will need to watch that.

Maybe the post is off-topic. Post according to the topic according to what you will discuss and question. Make bitcointalk into a community that is useful for cryptocurrency players. So I suggest do not spam and always post useful and mengaju on all the topics of the world cryptocurrency and blockchain.

i think it all boils down to the title of the topic itself

most common threads have very flashy titles which itself makes it attractive  Roll Eyes
