Can´t you just do this yourself? Yes, these pennies are still in circulation. You can also hunt for silver quarters, dimes and nickels. However it would take a long time for you to hunt for 10,000 copper pennies by hand.

Why copper? It is used in most electronic devices as well as things like bullet shell cases and other usefull things. If you are a conspiracy theorist then you will see that the copper market is less manipulated than the gold or silver market.

Yes they are illegal to melt down at the moment. The will change in the future, nobody knows exactly when.

Check out all other copper bullion, it is often +100% spot price not under spot. This is a long term buy. BTW melting of silver coins in the 60s 70s was illegal, and could still be. I am not a lawyer so I dont want to make claim something that is not true but here is an interesting site

A few IFs about copper pennies:

If the penny is discontinued then is should be legal to melt the coins. Canada is phasing out the penny (for example).
If the copper price crashes then the goverment has backed up your coins-They are worth at least one cent each no matter what.
If the goverment that created the coins does not exist anymore then they will have value due to the copper content.

What other metal can you buy below spot price in large ammounts, for bitcoin?!

It doesn't matter if you can't melt them down, they still have inherent value. A 90% silver quarter sells for $4-5 these days, even though it's only worth 25 cents and technically it's illegal to melt them. Still, it has value.

Well to be honest - No.
Why?
1. That is illegal, you are risking jail time for collecting copper.
2. It takes a lot of effort,logistics and planning
3. Most of the copper in abandoned buildings has already been stripped by the owners or by someone else.

Why not sit back and trade or mine bitcoin and just order a 60 pound box of copper deliveried to your home? Much easier indeed!

They are worth 1 cent. All I saw on the first page was IF. Copper bullion is worth peanuts anyway. My solution: have a cigar box and chuck your pre-'83 pennies in there. By the time copper is worth anything (if that happens in our lifetime) you will have more than 10,000 pennies. Doesn't it just seem illogical to anyone to pay more than face value for something that is (don't be mistaken...and I don't listen to "ifs") legal tender?

I wrote IF because I dont want to mislead anyone. Buying these copper pennies partly a speculation that someday in the future it will be legal to melt them down simmilar to how it went with silver US coins.

These are worth double the face value and you can get them from me for below spot in a 60 pound box that fits in your basement, under your bed or in the corner of your room. Of course copper will never be gold or silver and nobody is saying that.

These are being hoarded in such a big way it is silly. Pre-1964 silver coins are legal tender and people pay more than face value. If you have a lot of time you can sort them yourself, or even buy a machine to sort them. Or you can buy them already sorted and sent to your doorstep, of course that costs more than sorting them yourself, but it will save you a lot of time.

Why should you pay more for a 1964 dime? You can find them in circulation. Yes there are not that many, I know. Why? They were hoarded and sorted out manualy and by machines.
