Well there might be various reasons. First the news that google is going to ban cryptocurrency ads might be contributing to the drop. There also might be some whales trying to manipulate the price of bitcoins by selling and waiting for btc's price to drop and then they'll buy a huge amount of btc again. Also some fake/half-true news or rumors which gets spread due to media might also add to the drop.

Google banning bitcoins is certainly a disappointing news but they have given some time. Other than this, there has been no valid negative related to bitcoins. I just see fake negative news related to bitcoins being spread everywhere. Some websites are saying that now people are using monero for illegal activities instead of bitcoins and thus the demand has decreased. It is funny in my opinions as earlier people were against bitcoins because it was being used for illegal activities.

Yes, the market today is going down the difficulty, I think these currencies have different links, possibly due to the influence of Bitcoin on the market so many other currencies also fell. Also, in my country, the government is trying to eliminate Bitcoin.

Many predictions about bitcoin after chinese holidays, but that's just a prediction, in fact many factors affecting the decline in bitcoin prices, especially the issue of negative issues that are currently developing, such as the prohibition of bitcoin ads by google, obviously it affects the value of bitcoin now

1.2017 has been huge for Bitcoin. At the start of the year, the currency was trading for about $900 per coin. It bumped along, hitting $1,000 in February, before beginning its huge rally in late November that took it all the way up to $19,000, before crashing back down to $10,000. Following a rally in the last day or two, it’s back up to $15,000.
2) The big question now is what happens next. Bitcoin has done a lot of growing up in the last month, as professional investors have started taking a real interest in the currency. The first few months of 2018 are going to determine whether Bitcoin is a real investment, a viable currency, or a total bust.

3) Where Bitcoin prices go in the short term will largely depend on the regulatory environment. On the plus side for Bitcoin, it’s starting to be traded on traditional markets. Two big exchanges, the CME and CBOE are already offering Bitcoin trading to investors. The system is a little messy — what they’re really offering is futures prices, based on the Bitcoin price averaged from a few big exchanges — but the result is that investors can trade in Bitcoin on a secured, non-hackable, reputable exchange. But at the same time, the main US regulator, the SEC, warned this month that there’s “substantially less investor protection than in our traditional securities markets, with correspondingly greater opportunities for fraud and manipulation.”

4) Investors are also at risk from exchanges collapsing, or being hacked: most hobby speculators store their Bitcoin in a wallet kept with one of the big cryptocurrency exchanges, which makes them accessible to hackers. Bitcoin exchanges have been plundered by hackers in the past, and with the increased value of Bitcoin, you’d imagine it’s just a matter of time until a hack happens.

5) The price of bitcoin is down more than 25 percent from an all-time high of nearly $20,000 reached this past weekend, market data shows.

Prices fell to as low as $14,502 to start today's trading session, according to CoinDesk's Bitcoin Price Index (BPI), about 27 percent from the all-time high of $19,783 reported on Dec. 17.

6)Overall, bitcoin has seen several notable price drops following Sunday's gains, including a dip below $17,000 on Tuesday that accounted for a roughly $1,800 drop on the day. Indeed, analysts have suggested that the price could experience continued volatility as 2017 comes to a close and new money, brought in by bitcoin's meteoric gains, exits for fiat.

Google ban rumor is the main reason for the price fall and it is falling more touched $8000,it needs time to settle down and then only it will recover. It is a great chance again to buy bitcoins for cheaper price,so keep buying bitcoin and make more money.

My feeling is that we need to see Bitcoin going much lower before seeing a positive trend again. New entrants are waiting lower prices while current holders don't see motivated to invest more

A continuous black propaganda slightly affect the popularity of bitcoin and ICO scamming pulled badly the cryptocurrency legitimacy. I also predict differently after the Chinese holiday, but with much banning of certain sites and hacking incidents have change a lot. But at 8000$ price now proves that the community is holding on and believers staying still.

I think the bitcoin going down is a true rule of development for digital money. But bitcoin will increase again in the next few days. Due to the impact of the market economy, many people do not invest in bitcoin. I hope the bitcoin will rise again.

Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies trade is not just regular stock trading. There's a lot of manipulating going on. Spreading fake negative news seems to be working to get mainstream investors panicking. Whales pump and dump to bring the price down. Authorities calling for regulations, to stop money laundering they say. All this creates FUD and that is why the price does not increase. But as we've experienced many times before, the price will increase again after a while.

I thinks it's because related to the massive selling that stupid Japanese Mt. Gox trustee did in the previous batches that market really surprised and reacts slow to digest. Give it some time.
Without that stupid massive sell happened, Bitcoin will be easily sits at 30K USD right now.
And of course several week hands shutters after that.

the decline in the price of bitcoin and altcoin is also my question, my pendapata reduction in bitcoin prices may be caused a lot of negative news about bitcoin so that makes investors hesitate and prefer to sell bitcoin

i believe in that case of bitcoin now, there is really time that the price of bitcoin is very low but we all know that this point is...slowly the price is going up now and just keep on earning bitcoin now because later on the price will go up then you can sell your cois in the right price you want to.

As I know it's because of regulating china with exchangers. Hence the result of panic people to sell bitcoins.

So, bitcoins have really dropped.
Hopefully this will be the return of the BTC price
