Best explaination of Proof of work vs Proof of stake

We are relatively new to Crypto(summer 2017) but we want some confirmation from the forum that we are making the simplest charactization of proof of work, because it seems like it’s a simple concept but people vary widely about what they think it exactally entails.

I do not quite understand your post, but I will say if you are newcomers, you need to study everything in detail and everywhere to be like a fish in the water!
