Sky News has reported today, March 18, that Twitter is considering implementing a ban on cryptocurrency-related advertising in two weeks according to an as-of-yet unconfirmed report.

Twitter had not responded to a request for confirmation of the alleged crypto ad ban by press time.

Twitter’s reported crypto ad ban would come in the wake of both Facebook ban of crypto advertising in January, and Google’s recent update to its Financial Services policy that will ban crypto ads starting in June 2018.

It would be strange that Twitter decide not to do anything when Facebook&Google completely banned cryptocurrency ads,in fact Google has just announced that it will do that in few months.Quantity of scams related to crypto has obviously become too big and brings quite negative publicity to these companies. It would be much more reasonable that they have decided to strictly supervise content of advertising and separate the good from the bad.But it would certainly be costly and challenging for them, prohibit all is obviously much easier choice.

This is bad,but also good decision for some people-cryptocurrency is become great opportunity for countless scams. While people will be better protected on the one hand,on the other hand this will be a big drawback regarding the promotion of legitimate projects.

It would be nice if they did something to combat the legion of crypto impersonators too.

If I were a platform of some sort I'd be fucking sick of crypto by now. I would guess that the main thing it generates is aggravation and an endless strong of complaints about scams.

I support any movement that could reduce bounties & ico spam.
People there are going too far with spam and scammy ads. Hope, telegram and all social media media follows theses steps.

this is logical after Facebook did it and Google announcement also that they will go along with them.

It is interesting if it will impact twitter bounties.

I speculate that the ICO ads will still be popping out on twitter right an left only with other keywords as in facebook right now.

It may not be cool to say it, but I think it should be banned. Nothing good comes of it. And they've no interest in listening to civilians anyway.

I've read elsewhere that Twitter will be allowing selective advertising which I presume means still permitting stuff like Coinbase rather than that dog walking ICO everyone's getting so excited about.

I'm unfamiliar with the Twitter campaigns on here, but presumably they're regular tweets. None of that will be stopped. You can hawk all you like in your tweets but there won't be promoted ads between them any more.
