To many people lost money To many regulations To many new tax laws Will take another 4 years for a "new" crowd to come in an invest To many exchanges robbed people
Over all everyone is now turned off by crypto, maybe 2019 might be better but this year is all about 1080tis costing $1000+ and barely making $1, coins with 1-3 month life cycles
I came in at the beginning of the bubble watched it rise and now I seen it burst. Say it after me crypto is dead in 2018

if the coin devs dont manage it to make the algos really asic resistant i see no future for crypto too imho ethash& equihash gets asic mined in secret, cryptonight has been asic mined for months as we know now...... everything getting dumped, its to much supply for the market i also believe the cryptonight forks will just help for a short time, as soon the asic fuckers have their updated miners ready to mine difficultys will be fucked up again or even more than now thanks god i sold all my rx 580 weeks ago for 350-400€ because i saw it comming

Too early to say crypto is dead this year, It's still early in the year. We don't know what will happen next month, next week, or may tomorrow. Let's wait and see what going to happen.

Agreed, many years Q1 has been rough for crypto, only to come back strong at the end of the year. Surprising part is you still can't get a GPU at a reasonable price with mining profits 1/10th what they were 3 months ago.

Forward to today, eight months later, in a bear run, and there's still money to be made. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

I'm still making mad dough by mining some new shitcoins, that are coming everyday. You just need to dedicate yourself if you want to succeed bruk. If you go mainstream and mine ETH and everything else, that has enormous difficulty ofc it would be dead for you . As mbdmbn said, there's still money to be made! You just gotta put yourself into it mate

There's always ways to make money in Crypto, even when mining profits have fallen. I'm personally not buying any GPUs at all anymore due to horrible prices and even worse profitability (still profitable for those who already have em, but for those who don't it'll take ~12months to break even with current pricing). I'm still profitable on pretty much everything I own, and at ~7c/kWh it will remain that way for quite some time.
If you're thinking about the new CN ASICs right now, don't try them. As you most likely already know, they're an incredibly big gamble as most CryptoNight coins are forking in an attempt to shut them out. There's no reason to resort to gambling even when profitability is low.

Back in Aug 2017 everyone was spitting about gpu prices and crypto values. Then crypto rocketed, everyone rushed to buy cards. Now we're back in FUD dead zone. Clearly time to panic, this time it's really dead, right?

You are too "young" in the crypto world. By your "standards" Bitcoin has died a good couple of times already. And I expect it'll die a number more times. As soon as the price will jump consistently again, a new loop will start. And the equation is not about if, it's about when. The history just loves the loops.

Come on man with these posts. I remember you joining the mining section and the forum when you barely knew what anything was and how it worked. You came in at the peak of cryptocurrency during an all-time high. You cannot expect the gains you saw when you joined to continue on forever. I assume you likely do not have experience with the stock market or any other type of investing. Have you looked at the 1Q charts for all previous years of Bitcoin? Did you even follow Bitcoin before Dec of 2017? Or are you just panic selling and want to spread FUD without any knowledge?
The market is going down that is correct and it could continue for months or years, but do you realize that 8k is still a 100% gain from late last year and its still up 709% from one year ago today. That is far from dead if you ask me. I would ask you to not spread your panic or fear without looking at the bigger picture outside your 3-month experience with cryptocurrency. Those that have been here awhile will see through your post but for the newbies who have the ability to analyze the past or look at the potential of cryptocurrency beyond quarter to quarter your kind of posts are not helpful or productive. If you are leaving your cryptocurrency journey then best of luck in the future in whatever you decide to do.
As always don't invest more than you can afford to lose, that's when panic, stress, and fear set in.

Some people just cannot handle losses obviously and when they get mad, they start FUDding and blaming everything. That's not a winners mindset, neither a way to prosper in life man! You just gotta stick with it and look for solutions, otherwise you lose everything

lol same threads pop up every 10 months
Relax guys, crypto is not dead. It's just the beginning, some people can't stomach the ride. Ethereum is worth $500, Bitcoin is worth $8000!! If all you looked at was the prices in May of last year and again today you would be jumping for joy! The problem is you lived through the highs of December, the GPU spikes of January, the FUD videos on youtube, and now you're panicking. Close your eyes and check back in 12 months. Your brain is always going to deceive you.

Year by year many miners or not miners are telling mining is dead, but honestly they are just losing opportunity to make passive earnings daily, but if you bought your cards higher I don't think it will be still profitable, but for those who bought their cards for a low price I think mining to them is still profitable.
Just learn how to hold your coins and sell them if the price increases back again. because i know GPU mining will be more profitable in the future.

Have fun joining the litany of other arm chair quarterbacks calling it dead over the past 7 years. Disco was never had people dumping billions of dollars into it.
