Looks like you don't understand what Airdrop is.
Airdrops can be defined as the process whereby a cryptocurrency enterprise distributes cryptocurrency tokens to the wallets of some users free of charge.

 If someone is asking you to pay for coins - that's a scam and not Airdrop. Also, they can ask for API keys, passwords and etc. , beware of that.

I think some airdrops are done in form of mining. Where you are asked to send 0 Ethereum and immediately after the transaction, you will get your token.
