If the majority of the nodes decided to change the BTC hash to a different, ASIC resistant POW algo, or a POS algo, the mining pools couldn't stop them right?
Essentially, it would be a contentious fork, but if the majority of exchanges and node operators went with the new algo, ASIC mined BTC would be a shitcoin alt. The only thing that prevents BTC from scaling is the sabotage by groups like Antimer/Bitmain. This shit company could be killed off from a move like this.
So why don't we start a movement to switch algos? Or a modified version of SHA-256 that requires large amounts of memory to process like Equihash?
POS is more in line with Satoshi's vision, should be worth considering.
