Yup I've been done.....
Put 2.5 btc up for sale as I couldn't be arsed with the mt.gox hastle.
Someone bought them and payed within the hour.
The person had 700+ feedback and all seemed quite good.
Logged into PayPal and had the green "safe to send" box around my transaction.
So I did .....
Today they now have a case open and want the money back.
She's claiming she's been hacked, both accounts I guess! And having called PayPal they don't seem interested in helping because I didn't physically post anything !!!!!!!......
Aaarrrrgh !!!!

Who was the eBay user you sold to? These details are pertinent if you don't want other people being scammed again by the same person.

Sounds like the ebay user the OP sold to had their ebay/paypal account hacked, had a similar thing nearly happen to me.

To the OP, best to use Localbitcoins to sell your btc and only accept bank transfers.

Yes like I posted before, she's claiming she got hacked so I don't want to post her details in case she's telling the truth. I called PayPal and they said they can tell if she was hacked from the number of password attempts and the IP addresses those attempts came from.....if they aren't addresses she normally uses then its likely her account was breached.

Your Ip can easily be faked so really Paypal is talking out of its ass as usual.

Which is pretty funny because for the majority of hacks it involves one correct password attempt obtained through phishing, keylogging, etc, and I've never had a problem signing into my PayPal account and paying from any VPN.

Yes and if you wait a couple of days until everything is posted out you get the items and you'll be covered by PayPal.....the seller will also be covered if they are sending out in the post !!!!....the perfect scam !

Well, selling bitcoins on paypal isn't very smart to begin with.
Paypal hates bitcoin, so they weren't exactly on your side.

Sorry, nothing really could be done except get over it and look on the bright side of things.  Grin

That's the perfect con.
Which would also be illegal, but I'm surprised I haven't heard of people doing this.

If you are on both ends of the scam- buyer and seller,
and were both renumerated, that would be maximum efficiency.
