For some reason all of a sudden, Coinbase is mistakingly recognizing my debit card for a credit card and I'm unable to add it as a source of payment.  Does anyone else have a way to buy bitcoin using a debit card preferably with low fees?

Coinbase would be the only way I suppose. Another way would be to link your debit card to PayPal and buy coins from those who foolishly ignore the risks when accepting reversible payment methods.

There is no other way. People are too scared and paranoid of what you might do after getting the coins. After all, the two major card brands (Visa and MasterCard) allow cardholders to do chargebacks up to 90 days from payment date.

Plus one can never tell if the card information was phished or hacked. Too risky.

Not to mention but many US issuers recognize coinbase and are now making the purchases as cash advances. Noticed my last purchase was classified that way. Makes bank transfer the cheapest way I know of at the moment other than peer-to-peer.

I had the same problem with coinbase. they mistook by debit card for a credit card and did not allow me to continue using it. ended up having to connect my bank account to coinbase.

The other way I know of and have used myself is the cryptocurrency exchange website changelly.com
If you go right to their website you see the mastercard logo for buying bitcoin.
So you know they are legit and I have tested them using it just before Christmas.

Can't you do a bank transfer if you have a debit card? I am quite sure you will find places to trade worldwide bitcoin using bank transfer
