Yes. Whatever is the best for the community and the network.
So as I believe yes is the answer.
And to be honest i don't know if it will be next or if it's being already exploited by ASICS. As the difficulty has increased in the last 3 months. Maybe it's a switch because of the profitability, and everyone changed to it. Like I did, i quit monero and started with ethereum. Hope to be back home now with the fork. We'll see 😁😁😁

I would support a fork of the coin to allow GPU mining to continue. I think it is more in the community spirit for a coin than to have it only mined by a handful of big companies.

It is interesting to go back on the launch threads of so many coins and see how they promoted decentralization and/or ASIC resistance, only for some amount time to pass then they don't seem to care anymore. Is it a case of the Dev's getting rich and really not caring, or are they being offered something in return for not forking? Big money always seems to corrupt things.

Although forking it would acquire a vast amount of development. I would all the infrastructure that has been produced and created over the last years would be able able to adapt for it.
Plus they would lose a huge community that mine with GPUs. Would be sad but that is what happened for Bitcoin and look at it now.

Merit me or don't.

Yes
The main reason for cryptos exists is DECENTRALIZATION

If we continue like this, soon only big farms and asics will mine and just a few people will control everything

I am a supporter of mining, GPU. This makes mining a more decentralized system. We all see how the bitcoin community has become dependent on miners. Now bitcoin requires upgrading but this does not happen because there is no consensus between miners and developers. The result is bad for everyone. It seems to me cryptonight is no longer save, but it will be the impetus to destroy the producers of asics and make protection for all the coins that will appear in the future.

Algos should every 3-4 months to kill ASICs and maybe even FPGAs, so I vote YES, fork Ethereum.

Yes, even though I love ASICs and they've been nothing but good for me personally, it's not the same for everyone else. Community and decentralization needs to be pleased

Why do you people think that ASICs are what cause centralization? This has to come from a place of complete ignorance.

NEWS FLASH: There are massive GPU farms out there, going to ASIC would just be a hardware swap, nothing would change.

I manage over 10,000 GPUs myself.

Why would anyone want to pay $5000 to build a 6 card GPU rig versus buying a $2500 ASIC?

Try using logic when posting instead of emotion.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

Yes GPU miners hsould be saved. It makes no sense to me to put mining in the hands of big companies. Those companies are just like banks in the old world. Let's steer away from that.

The problem with ASICs idiot is they only sell to the big guys early for the bulk orders and then mine with thier own hardware like they did with cryptonightt.

Gpu's might be expensive but ANYONE can buy them, maybe not in bulk or at discounts big farmers like you get but the are accessible.

Good quality ASICs for coins that would be very profitiable ( like cryptonight was before bitmain and baikal killed it) are not aviaible for sale until

AFTER the large profits have been made by the big inside buyers and the chip makers.

Then they dump the hardware on you for your measly $20 profit a day per machine (before power, hello S9 and L3) when they were making like 500 to 1k profit per machine when they initialy made it.

The playing fieild is rigged  that is why people dislike ASICs.

Thats the problem dumbass

Yeah, I would be happy with PoS or a Anti-ASIC fork taking place. This ASIC crap is really bad, especially when things like MoQ of 6, stupidly high price per piece, devs mining before and selling a used product after starts to happen (referring to CN ASICs...).

They state that after the first "masternodes" are setup for the PoS system, they will allow for "stake pools" where you can pool together enough to reach the 1000 needed to stake a node.

Great, 100 Bitmain cryptonight ASICs = your 10 000 GPUS. That's how GPU profitability is killed by ASICs when there is no fork.

Because in one year they come out with 20x the speed of the previous ASIC and you are forced to upgrade if you want to stay in the game and your old investment worth pennies ....so you are forced to sell the ASIC.
Make rich the ASIC manufacturers or mine with GPUs that don't lose their value ?
But the GPUs don't lose so much value and you can sell them with a small loss after 1 year.
Did you understand now why we don't want to play with ASICs ?

I think i vote yes, if that fork will control or stop the intervention of ASIC miner in eth algo and protect the billions of capital in gpu mining, IT YES FOR ME>..
