I keep an eye on a few forums where project proposals are made in return for funding. So far all the most compelling ones are supply chain and very few are finance.

I'm not so sure your average finance professional would welcome the level of transparency that blockchains can offer, supply chains actively want it.

But at this stage of the game I'm not sure anyone knows who will benefit. There's a vast amount of noise and still almost no utility. The real ground breaker may come out of on area barely considered yet.

It is difficult to know, there are many potential applications for the blockchain but not a single one has materialized yet, the two the op proposes are some of the most common proposals by people that think the blockchain can change their business models, but still even after so many years this is still all theory and no substance yet.
