do we just install over the old version?
Yes sir. It was implemented in such a way that it will not matter what version you had installed previously. Edit: Here is a url too -- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=49831.0(Started a sep. thread to keep it a bit more organized as this was a rather old thread) Cheers, rasengan way to go. you're doing a good job.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in
Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it
will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Has the IOS app project been abandoned? I'm jailbroken on IOS 5.1.1 and all I can get the mtgox mobile app to do is launch the splash screen. I can't get it to do anything else to get started scanning qr code, etc.
Thanks,
CoinMan

Can you please fix this app? Do you need donations for motivation? I'm almost thinking of downgrading iOS just so I can use this app again. It worked on 5.0 I think. I skipped 5.0.1 and 5.1, does anyone know if it works on either of these versions?

Hi navigator and friends,
I really would love to update and continue with this beloved project, but this application was acquired by Mt. Gox quite some time ago, and I do not have any access to it. I apologize very much for the inconvenience. It has been quite some time since I have been off this project (more than 6 months).
You will need to take it up with Mt. Gox directly.
Cheers, rasengan

Mt.Gox responded to my email saying that an upgraded version was in development and would be available soon.

+1 I can confirm the same symptoms.
After successfully installing the MtGox Mobile app from Cydia's BigBoss repository on my iPhone 4S (5.1.1), it only launches a fancy splashscreen.
The splashscreen doesn't disappear, and the app doesn't crash. It just sorta stays there, taunting you. Re-installing the app doesn't do anything.
I also submitted a ticket to MtGox and they told me they were closing my ticket as "Resolved." (they lied!)
+1 on the UsersWhoWantThisAppUpdated count...

+1 Same as above few posters
While I can still access the .com site, its not perfectly formatted for my phone, and a dedicated app would be so much easier to deal with.

I have nudged mtgox again on iOS support and received nothing more helpful than previous posters. I raised a ticket with mtgox "Hi, I understand that iOS 5 is no longer supported, however the current release is iOS 6.1.1. Furthermore I understand that mtgox have been responsible for this application since early 2012 and I have seen reports since mid last year about this same freezing problem. Do MTGOX actually intend any development or is iOS simply a shelved project? Cheers Andrew" And received the following response from Marcus in mtgox support. "Hello Andrew, Thank you for your email. We are sorry to inform you that our app does not work with iOS 5. We are currently working on developing a new app that will work with new Iphone models and once that is done we will make an announcement. However we do not have a ETA on this. If you have any further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact Mt.Gox Support Thanks, MtGox.com Team" To which I left the following feedback "This ticket has been rated as Bad, I'm unsatisfied With the following comment: simply marked ticket as resolved without actually attempting to provide any information. MTGOX Application has been broken for a long time now and there is no information forthcoming. If the application is abandoned by mtgox then would appreciate knowing this so iOS users can move on. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=31710.60 has a lot of people experiencing the same problem and been told it will get fixed but this is going back to mid last year." Don't hold your breath :-(

mtgox are still keeping the ticket alive... "Hello Andrew, Thank you for your reply Could you please let us know what is the IPhone model that you are using. Thanks, MtGox.com Team" "Hi Marcus, I am currently using an iPhone 4S, but have access to other devices if need be. Regards Andrew"
