Mt. Gox Live, a division of Mt. Gox, is proud to present

Mt. Gox Mobilehttp://mtgoxlive.com/mobile
Mt.GOx Mobile, Go Bitcoin!  NEW v3.0 (October 25, 2011)
If you like this software, please give it a high five (star)

UPDATE 25/10/11:  Multi Currency support (BETA) Added!

UPDATE 21/9/11:  iOS (Jailbroken) APP IS OUT!
(In the BigBoss Repo)

To learn about Profiles, Rights, and how to use this application in your Store or Restaurant, visit this thread:
http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=33063.0

What is Mt. Gox Mobile?
Mt. Gox Mobile is a hosted mobile bitcoin wallet and bitcoin trader for Android™ 2.1-2.9, 3.2 and iOS 4.0+ (Requires Cydia/.deb).  The application has been tested across many Android devices and ROMS, including but not limited to HTC Sense, Cyanogen, and MIUI as well as several iOS devices including iOS 4.0.1 and iOS simulators.

What does Mt. Gox Mobile do?
  • Multi-Currency Support
  • View your balance and ticker data
  • Buy Bitcoins with USD
  • Sell Bitcoins for USD
  • Send Bitcoins to a btc.to address
  • Send Bitcoins to a bitcoin address
  • Create USD Vouchers and QR Codes™
  • Create BTC Vouchers and QR Codes
  • Scan QR Codes and Redeem USD or BTC Vouchers
  • Review your recent history
  • Review the closest depth
  • Watch Mt. Gox Live
  • Manage multiple profiles/accounts
  • Control access rights for accounts
  • ... and plenty more to come!

Ok, but what are some real life use scenarios?
1. Use Mt. Gox Mobile to pay for your next meal.
2. Use Mt. Gox Mobile to day trade, all day, every day, wherever you are.
3. Use Mt. Gox Mobile to receive BTC and USD payments via QR Code/Voucher.
4. Use Mt. Gox Mobile to send/pay BTC to someone who doesn't have Mt. Gox (send to btc.to/bitcoin address)
5. Use Mt. Gox Mobile as a virtual payment solution to allow each and every one of your employees to process payments from wherever they are.

Mt. Gox Mobile is your complete solution for your bitcoin wallet/payment and bitcoin trading needs while on the go... and now, Mt. Gox Mobile is a complete payment processing solution for online and brick and mortar merchants including those in food, retail, convenience, fuel, and other industries.

I need this, but, is it secure?
Mt. Gox Mobile will never ask for your username and password.  Mt. Gox Mobile utilizes the secured HTTP API built by Mt. Gox which enables applications to utilize a secure method of identification and application pairing.  All communications are encrypted over HTTPS (SSL) and are signed using a secret key which is used to create a unique SHA-512 hash which must then be verified.  Further, the secret key is saved for future sessions using AES encryption.

There's nothing plain about that text.  Cheesy

To add an additional layer of security, Mt. Gox allows anyone to revoke any application's access via the user settings page at any time.  This includes on a per rights basis (support within the client coming very soon!).

Ok!  That's just what I needed.  How do I get started?
Mt. Gox Mobile is currently available for download for Android devices from the application's website, http://mtgoxlive.com/mobile, as well as the Android Market.  This application is available for iOS 4.0.1+ jailbroken devices through Cydia on the BigBoss repo.

It's downloaded, but I just see this Activation Key and no fields for my username and password?
Go to http://mtgoxlive.com/mobile and review the setup instructions found on the "Download" link.

(Setup TL;dr)
Web: Login to Mt. Gox -> Settings -> Mobile Application -> Select all -> Grant
Mobile: Scan the QR code that shows up after grant -> Choose a password

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Please let us know your experience with the app and feel free to provide comments, suggestions, complaints, etc. Wink
edit: and more importantly, tell your local favorite shops and merchants!  They can start with their phones and get a true PoS soon!

If I drop my phone could someone move all my BTC? Or does the software lock out after a set time?

The software itself does not lock out after a set time. This is an excellent question and its something that will absolutely be included in the next update in < 48 hours.  You can currently revoke the API access through your Mt. Gox settings.  Until tomorrow, I would strongly suggest setting a timeout/password on your phone itself or always remember to logout.

Please keep the feedback, questions and comments coming!

edit: time for update, there was a lot more feedback/requests than was anticipated. Smiley

Great app! Thanks for sharing. Two issues though:

1. I tried to install the app on my Transformer tablet and the GUI isn't adapted to the higher resolution. Any ETA on when we can hope for a fix? The graphs and depth info gets really small.

2. When I exited the app on my Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101, and tried to relogin again, there is no "submit" button or equivalent to submit my password.

And to those who wonder where the "revoke" permissions button is: You have to reload the settings web page for the revoke button to become visible.

EDIT1:
3. Please make it possible to rotate the phone and/or tablet, and that the screen also rotates. On small phones' touch screens, it is easier to hit the correct buttons when the phone is in landscape rotation.

4. You could make the single "choose your password" field into two fields, where the second field asks you to "confirm your chosen password". Not a biggie, but makes the app behave as people are used to.

Comment: On point 2 above, the missing button I'm referring to is called "login" on the phone app.

Sorry about that, this is a known issue and we will get to this soon unless Honeycomb 3.2 can make it to devices sooner.   If you visit http://mtgoxlive.com/orders you will be able to see the view in a full screen.  It is merely an issue with the app and "xtra large" screens/honeycomb.  What Android OS are you running, sir?

2. When I exited the app on my Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101, and tried to relogin again, there is no "submit" button or equivalent to submit my password.

This is very strange and could appear to be another UI issue with the newer tablets.  We will get to this as soon as possible, as being able to use this on a tablet is very important to us. Smiley

Thanks for the feedback and your continued patience as we bring the application to more devices.

Looks pretty cool! It would be nice if the password could be prompted only when needed. (Perhaps this is the case as I haven't downloaded it yet) You could create buy/sell orders, transfers etc and it would be added to a "pending" list. Then the user could "authorize" with a password and it will fulfill the actions. The password would then be used, forgotten, and prompted when needed again.

No worries. I'm running the latest available (in Sweden) official unrooted Android 3.1 build number HMJ37.WW_epad-8.4.4.11-20110711, sir. It's better that the phone app works flawlessly and not the tablet app, than the other way around. But getting both to work is of course ideal Smiley. I'm giving the app five stars anyway.

Right now the app pairs with the account and requires 1 password to login... please let us know how this works for you. Smiley

Please add pinch-to-zoom functionality on the transaction history tab, or at least increase the size of the text. It's so small it's barely readable on my 3.7 inch HTC Desire phone.

todu, those are excellent suggestions sir and some changes will be made within the next build:
1) Confirm password.
2) Larger font on history (and/or possibly zoom)

As for landscape, this is definitely something we will add soon... in an intuitive way.
Thanks for the continued suggestions! It helps a lot Cheesy

2. When I exited the app on my Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101, and tried to relogin again, there is no "submit" button or equivalent to submit my password.

[Solved]

FYI: I should add that I was using the Swiftkey Tablet X keyboard app, and not the standard Android keyboard. When I tried to change the keyboard to the standard Android one, and reran your app, it started showing the "login" button again. I then tried to reproduce the bug by alternating between the keyboards and force stopping the app in between. No success in reproducing the bug. Maybe it was related to me switching keyboards, or maybe the bug just happened to resolve itself for another unknown reason, at just the same time I tried to switch keyboard.

Currently, Apple has policies against applications which enable the trade of virtual currencies.  We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause at this time, and for now, are working to bring the application across all jailbroken devices and will simultaneously be doing everything we can to bring this application to the Apple App Store.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
