A lot of drug users suffer from mental issues or depression so it is extremely hard for them to quit.  the root issue must be tackled first.

I've seen many guys being addicted to drugs, squandered their money on it because they find it difficult to do without it,  the other way round the thing is affecting their health and withdrawal sydrom is another challenge altogether. So it's not advisable to indulge in drugs talk less of being addicted to it.

Don't start. Just don't get into drugs but if you do or you are already into it, the first step would be to accept that you are an addict and get yourself professional help.
