Hi, Guys!

Currently I'm building educational website for all regarding blockchain. I have collected a catalogue of top-100 blockchain courses and contacted course authors for details.
Now I need your reviews. Will be appriciated for help.

Just want to start with this course: https://howtotoken.com/courses/ethereum-blockchain-developer-build-projects-using-solidity/

This is what I have right now

What you’ll learn?

Basically, it’s a course on blockchain development for beginners. It covers the way blockchain works, how to launch an IDE for Ethereum development, what smart contracts are and how to write one in Solidity and deploy it on Ethereum’s blockchain. The part on smart contracts is seemingly the most important one in the course. All in all there are 85 lectures that run for almost 7 hours, but keep in mind that you’ll have to spend a lot of time on practical coding assignments, so the completion of the course will take longer than 7 hours. Prior programming experience will certainly be helpful.

Who are the instructors?

There are two instructors on the course – Ravinder Deol and Thomas Wiesner. Ravinder is the founder of B21Block platform for education in blockchain, so he is a specialist in making blockchain-related courses. He now co-teaches 24 courses on Udemy, and definitely he could not keep up with this workload alone. That’s probably why at some point he started inviting co-instructors on his courses. In this one Thomas is the main instructor, but as Ravinder is kind of a big name in blockchain education, he is listed first, probably to lure more students.

What’s so special about this course?

This one is good mainly because of Thomas. Unlike Ravinder, he is not a big name, but that might be even better for students – while Ravinder pays a lot of attention to his “entrepreneurial” stuff and developing B21Block and is giving instructions from a standpoint of an optimistic blockchain evangelist, Thomas seems to be more focused on going into details. He has been working on Ethereum-based projects since 2016 and has come all the way from a beginner to an advanced developer himself. That’s cool as the guy still remembers what it’s like to be a beginner and knows how to present material so that anyone can understand it. Another good thing is that before making videos he was writing how-to guides (you can sample some in his blog), so he is used to structuring material in a clear manner. Thomas also has a Youtube channel, and you can check it out before joining the course to decide whether you like him or not. All in all the course gives good fundamentals to start writing your own smart contracts on Solidity, but you should keep in mind that it is updated quite rarely (the last update was in September 2017), so it does not cover some new features Truffle and other tools have got since then. Also, it’s an extremely practical course, so if you want to know more about theory/history of blockchain or its possible application in the future, look elsewhere. This one will give you mostly the hands-on experience with smart contracts.
