I have read mixed opinion on this one. Some say to power you risers with only the PSU connected to motherboard while some say it not a problem.

I recently built my first rig - 12*1050ti powering it two 750w PSU connected through spiliter.

I am powering half of my cards and their risers with one PSU and vice versa. So half of my risers are powered by PSU that is not connected to motherboard. Can it cause problems ?

EDIT : I think you guys are getting me wrong. I am powering my GPU and it's riser with same PSU.  But 6 of my GPU and the riser to which they are connected are powered by a PSU that is not connected to motherboard. I read somewhere that all risers should be powered by PSU that is connected to motherboard.

GPU's and risers should be powered by the same PSU.

I originally powered all the risers with the same PSU connected to the motherboard on my triple and dual PSU rigs. After a recent discussion and reading a Biostar 12 GPU dual PSU mining setup guide, I found it's better to power the GPU power and riser with the same PSU.

*Each power cable from power supply is limited to be connected to 2 graphics cards or 2 PCI-Ex16 riser cards.

On a side note, I ran my dual and triple PSU rigs with all the risers connected to PSU that powers the motherboard and the secondary PSU's only powering the VGA 6/8 pin power under a heavy dual mining load 24/7 for almost a year and nothing bad came from it and my rigs are very stable.

Power your motherboard, CPU, SSD/HDD, and any fans with the same PSU. Your GPUs and risers need to be powered by the same PSU. If you have 2 PSUs it's ok to have one power the motherboard, CPU, HDD, fans etc in addition to 1 or more GPUs with their respective risers. You can then power as many additional GPUs + their risers as your second PSU can safely handle.
