Hi i have a question about paper wallets. If i mine from p2pool and input a paper wallet address as my username, will i be able to see the mined coins on the address using blockchain.info? the address has never been used on a wallet, just generated from vanitygen.

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

Are there any downsides to using a paper wallet to withdraw coins from pools?

Is the relative safety of a paper wallet comprimised?

There's no need to use your address in a wallet -- it'll always be in the blockchain whether you ever use it or not.

The only downside is it's more difficult to spend from a paper wallet than from a wallet like bitcoin-qt

Keep it safe and secured - and there isnt.  I think its the fact that its a physical item.  If you can encrypt the wallet beforehand that's also a plus!  Use something like armory for that purpose - I dont exactly know how to encrypt a vanity wallet - or if that is even possible.

Don't encrypt it unless you don't have a safe place to put it and you promise to remember your password forever.
