Hello, Hola, salut, Guten Tag, Ciao, Namaste, Ohayo, Salam Alaykom, Halo, Zdras-Tvuy-Te...etc

Cryptocurrency adoption is growing everyday, getting basic information is available everywhere in English and less in some languages, having a problem and want to resolve it but having a language barrier? well, this will make things more complicated.
Bitcointalk is equivalent to earth, it contains everything, oblige people to post in their language in only 1 topic is similar to... discussion post then service post then trading then technical question? It is a little bit ridiculous imo. So let's try to find a (temporary or final) solution that could be accepted by everyone and will preserve our n1-forums leadership.
So what do you think people of the crypto-world?
Ps. @ People who come here to say this is an English forums -> ok i know, thanks for your useless contribution, you can move now and come back when you have a helpful idea.

I will develop these solutions a little bit
1- less work maybe for mods but more headaches from people struggling to get their local board.

2- sticking some languages which have many members as usual, once they reach some point, we can open 1 local sub under Other languages/locations (e.g. Other languages/locations /Ukrainian or Other languages/locations/Serbian). In this sub-local they can mix all their topics together with a strict naming rules (e.g. [tech] how...?, [ANN][SHITCOIN] bla bla, [service] x,... (i prefer personally to add another requirement before opening the sub is to select a non-paid mod (or patroller?) by the community which can be later officially join the team or being disqualified)
Of course at some point, they will get their own local board like the other languages.

3 and 4 are obvious. Do not support it a lot.

5. Could be done but it required several mods and strict naming. It can also contains several subs e.g. Slavic/Serbian, Slavic/Ukrainian, Slavic/others...

The forum has so far 40 huge boards with a numerous sub boards and more than 30 moderators. Wont that 3. and 4. slow down forum engine ?

Can we add option Nr. 6 to the poll "make half moderator/half translator" and ask him to translate main aspects to from English in to local boards? Of coarse for a some sort of reward.

p.s. You are absolutely correct with language barrier. I do use "google translate" to translate text found in Meta and Beginners & Help, because in my local Russian board there is much less info...

Could you rephrase what it is that you are suggesting? I fail to fully parse the meaning of your post, but regarding your polling options:

Quote
Create specific subs under Other languages/locations until they get their local board!
That's pretty much already the case. Some local boards have fewer sub boards than others, but I guess the availability of sub boards is mostly more or less proportional to the active users in a given language.

Quote
Create a local board for every country!
That's a shitload of local boards. Also many countries consist of multiple languages, so you'd be back to square one.

Quote
Create a local board for every major language!
Which major languages are missing?

Quote
Regroup it in different local boards by specific zone (e.g southeast Asia) or language family
Larger geographic zones such as Southeast Asia usually contain multiple, highly differentiated language families and writing systems. Languages within the same language family still can differ widely.

From my perspective the current Local Board situation works quite fine, even though I'm more active on the regular, english boards instead of my "native" boards (in my case: German). The situation may be different for other native speakers though, but I obviously can't speak for boards that I can't read, let alone use.

I made examples, if there is something that you didn't understand, please quote it and I will rephrase it, thanks Smiley
I will re-explain this point
Example : we will create a new sub like this : Other languages/locations/Ukrainian
Now Ukrainian is a sub where we can open many topics inside it talking about local press, services, altcoins, trading...etc, i just suggested to impose a clear title that will help the mods to monitor this sub and to rearrange those topics once a proper board will be opened later. More examples :
Other languages/locations /Ukrainian/[PRESS] New Ukrainian exchange opened.
Other languages/locations  /Ukrainian/[ANN][ALTCOIN] New shitcoin
Etc...

Can we add option Nr. 6 to the poll "make half moderator/half translator" and ask him to translate main aspects to from English in to local boards? Of coarse for a some sort of reward.
I don't like point 3 or 4, put it to see how many will support it.
Suggestion point 6 : nah, I think that this is the job of the community not mods, they should be implicated to make their sub great, they need to translate many sticky and non sticky topics to their language, they will be merited by source for that normally.

Ah, so you are suggesting a process on how new language boards can be added and grown if need be? Looking at the "Other languages/locations" board and seeing the Ukrainian sticky thread I think I know understand your problem. Question being of course at which point one considers a local community big enough to warrant a board of their own.

I will try to explain more point 2
Knock knock, a considerable number of people want their own board but they don't qualify yet to have one.
Solution : open a sub under other languages/locations.
In this sub they can make their own topics freely with strict title names for the reasons i said previously.
This sub is considered as the first step to have their own board.
Their posts there will not be counted and thus their activity will not increase just like our deserted ivory tower or it can activate potential activity like the sub-saharian serious discussion.
So they will no point to spam since they do not have signature and their posts do not increase.
Now, if their community will continue growing and they prove that they worth their own board, they need to have at least 1 moderator. This mod is probably the most active and the best one helping his local community.

Imo this is the best solution, rather than opening a board then choosing random alt mod because you don't have choice. With my respect for everyone in altcointalk.
Ps i read the merit topic and it is funny and don't worth the effort to answer it.

I think the main problem with local boards are the lack of merit sources in some local boards.

In my local board, Portuguese, there is not even one merit source.
I love to post there. There are different discussions going on there, kind of totally different forum. But we really lack sources there.

This will be the one factor that some users even newbies are did not post to a local board just to chasing smerit not just like here in meta section. Another factor, that's why I also avoid posting on a local board because my friend has a negative rating with DT member and her feedback is not an english poster.

Can I suggest that every local board are having meta section?

Example : we will create a new sub like this : Other languages/locations/Ukrainian

Highly appreciated mate if they also implement this, it's nice to see if the local board are well arranged those topics where to find.

Your friend probably made a hard to understand post using random words in an english part of the forums, that's why I assume he get tagged. He had to stick in his local board if he cannot speak english.

Can I suggest that every local board are having meta section?

No since it will not help anyone.
The only possibility is that theymos decided to make a bitcointalk confederation and give local mods full control of their own board.

Highly appreciated mate if they also implement this, it's nice to see if the local board are well arranged those topics where to find.
It is just a proposition that may be considered or not. It is up to mods to decide, i personally don't have any conflict of interest so I will continue sharing my ideas with others.
