No, it won't. The merit system only can significantly reduce the number of spammers to move up to higher positions in the forum through their spamming threads. However, the system can not reduce spamming threads. Why is this? With current rules of the forum, newbies (sometimes) and Junior members can still join signature campaigns, therefore they will keep publishing shitty posts. The spamming endemic will only ended if Theymos launch new rules which completely prohibit newbies and Junior members to wear signature codes and don't allow them to join signature campaigns. Only Member and above can join. If this one be implemented, spamming will come to the end soon.

I would really like the ability to issue demerits. I want to give out a minus one to low quality efforts that beg for merit.

Well i dont have conclusion what the help of merit. But I can live with that. Yes forum user maybe unhappy and happy , someone think its not necessary and other think it is. So for now wait that the forum creator will do a conclusion for that problem

What stops a member from spamming the forum after he has become a member ? These habits will not go and they exploit every such opportunity irrespective of their rank. Best solution is to completely remove all the signature campaigns from here. If they want to reward the users, it should be based on the number of merits achieved by a member irrespective of his current rank.

In my opinion, merits system cannot prevent spam and shit posting, the only way to eliminate spam is remove signature campaign.

You get merit for your quality posts, but when you create your quality posts, unsure that your post will be noticed, when you your posts are noticed, nothing assure that you will be merited.

Wow, you gave this opinion just after making 3 posts here ? At least make 30-40 quality posts and then if you do not get merit, then you can say that it is difficult to get merits. In my opinion, it is not hard to become a member as it requires only 10 merits. Admin said that initially he wanted it to keep 1 merit for member level but then he thought that it would be too easy. Also, some members already became members from junior members with merits earned after the merit system and thus it is surely possible.

Really? I don't think so . At least Merit system help preventing all shitposter can get to higher rank in the future . For example, you're a oneline shitposter and you'll stuck forever at Member rank or maybe you can reach to Full Member rank if you improve your post quality or cheat Merit system. LOL. You can try but I think you already know what will happen with your account if you cheat this system

It seems like the best course of action is to follow tman's guide, as you linked. We would all be in a happier place if newcomers just followed the advice given in these threads

More aggressive approach to spammers but surely that would also come with some "problems", possibly. One of them would be how much can you demerit someone, would it just be the polar opposite of meriting or not? Also, someone with just 3 alt-accounts could possibly bombard one user and quite possibly lower them for a rank or two, depending on the circumstances.

But surely, posts like this one:

should receive demerit, but if you ask me, one "demerit" button that would automatically deduct merit count by 1 would be just enough.

in essence the new rules want to create a quality post, and useful for bitcoin users .. so enjoy the rules and learn with new rules,during your posting quality you dont worry about merit

People care so much for their rank,  but I guess my friend is right when he says rank also help you gain more stakes on signature campaign because after the Bounty END you will wait At least a month before you can join another signature again,  so I think having a big pays on the campaign is also obtain by having merit to rank, so is it okay to ask my friend to rate some of my post soon? It's like from range ofn1 to 10 rate my post and give me merit, will that be okay?
