This type of currency is very large. Earlier Litecoin and dog breeds were among them. Although the market value of these breeds was not as good as before, they still have a certain market. There are a lot of features that mimic Bitcoin's breed, and they don’t care about themselves. The value lies in the use of more people, and the value is higher. However, once fewer people are used, their value is also low. The only source of value (price) is the number of people using the funds and the investment funds.

Platform type
Assets can be issued on it and have some application properties Assets can be referred to as platform assets, Ripple, Nxt, Bts, early ETh, Etc, Lisk, waves These can all be called platform assets because on these platforms All assets can be issued. The value of platform assets comes from the application ecology of the platform, and whether the application function of the platform is really accepted by the market.

On coinmarketcap you can find such info - Cryptocurrencies: 1578. But remember that most of them are ERC20 tokens of ETH. There are not too much coins with its own blockchains.

Anchoring asset types
Some of these types are through platform-issued price-stabilized assets that are technically secured or asset-backed, such as bitcny, bitusd in Bts, and Dgx on Eth, and even anchor value assets secured by issuer credits, such as certain transactions. The platform issued anchors the assets of the local legal currency. There is no room for appreciation of such assets, just to facilitate the transfer of equal assets, but it may lose its value due to the issuer’s lack of credit.

You can classify them by different criteria.
For example, you can classify them by the distribution: coins distributed by mining, ICOs or airdrops.

But the best way to classify them is by the technology, which can be PoW, PoS and, an old concept, but only recently brought to crypto: DAG, which stands for Directed-Acyclic-Graph.

Dividend type. This type may be a token issued on the platform, but each currency has its own dividend logic, such as the Babitian Forum shares DCS, DGX's dividend equity DGD, the value of such assets lies in the growth of the dividend mechanism behind it.

I did not understand your question at all. Please tell in detail what you mean by the word "Type". If you write this, I think people will understand what to answer!

If I'd want to classify alt coins, I'll firstly classify them into these groups.

1. Having their own blockchain
           1.1 Mineable
           1.2 Fully mined
Both of them can now be categorised according to their algorithm like SHA256, EThash, Scrypt, Cryptonote, etc.

2. Don't have their own chain and are issued on sidechain of supported coins. Eg. ETH token, NEM token, NEO token.

Coins that are limited in transaction within a website cannot be considered as cryptocoin.

You can have a look at https://coinmarketcap.com/ to see how many they are listing right now, this is not an exhaustive list however as Coinmarket cap does not list every single coin but a good majority of them will be listed here along with various links to social and forum platforms.

There are many ways to differentiate between all the altcoins. E.g., you can differentiate them based on their mining algorithm. It can be Proof of Work, Proof of Stake or the new way which is DAG. You can also differentiate based on their use cases and their target markets. Like Bitcoin is a store of value and payment system while Ethereum is a platform for decentralized applications.

Based on Coinmarketcap, there are around 900+ coins available.
You can take a look at this link https://coinmarketcap.com/coins/views/all/

"do you know how many types it has?"

You mean to say how many altcoins fall under the category as security coins? utility coins? privacy coins? and other categories?

There are definitely too many. The majority of them are just redundant with no major technology implemented.
Perhaps, if you cut the number to 100 or less, then you would see a cleaner environment.

As time goes by the coins have evolved, some lost, others are transformed or may be renamed. Classifying them might be a hard time. The best way to analyze them I guess is to understand how each is used and know how the coin fits your needs.

The essence of your question is not clear what you mean by the word type!? Type most likely is the availability of its blockchain, otherwise I see no reason to classify coins.

The real number of altcoins is now 10 000+. That's a lot, the other problem is that they don't carry anything new to the crypto market, in most cases.
