The Prime Minister of Malta has publicly welcomed the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance as it announces it is relocating to the country.

Maltese PM to BINANCE : `Welcome to MALTA'

In a fresh move confirmed by CEO Zhao Changpeng March 23, Binance will set up an office in the European nation and will close the requisite banking partnerships “soon,” Bloomberg reports.

Binance has continued its astronomical rise which saw it overtake all other global exchanges’ volumes in January.

This week, negotiations between the exchange and Japanese regulators moved the price of Bitcoin after local press sources misinterpreted the “dialog” as a de facto ban.

Discussing the Malta move, however, government leader Joseph Muscat was open about his bullish stance on the company.

“We aim to be the global trailblazers in the regulation of blockchain-based businesses and the jurisdiction of quality and choice for world class fintech companies,” he tweeted.

Zhao replied that he was “honored” to receive the vote of confidence.

This is huge for Binance and what a come back after a bad patch of fud which was being spread and was the cause of the price drop of late.

With this news I see Malta opening its doors to more crypto businesses which its people could directly benefit from, well done MR P.M Cool

Oh OK. It looks like this is somewhat the cause of the sudden nose dive of bitcoin as we have been enjoying 3-4 days of going into green soon and I was surprised to see the price at $8500 as I thought that we are heading to $10000. I guess some crypto news outlet try to spun the news again and people panics causing a mini dump. I hope that those who sold now understand the situation. Binance is just moving and there are no bans whatsoever. And why Malta? because its own country who are totally friendly and as far as can I remember they have a vision and believed that blockchain and bitcoin will revolutionized and change the landscape of every countries financials. I only know that they have bitcoin ATM as well. So it only make sense for Binance to move into Malta. Its also ideal for Binance, because a lot of online gambling have licenses in Malta so its really a win-win situation.
