This coin is quite a controversial one among the Greek community. The ann thread was on the greek subforum but in English. This coin never really reached acceptance or any recognition. Those hotels accepting it have probably never heard of it or never used it regardless. I doubt that they'd have the infrastructure to accept it anyway. Better bring a credit card! 

Well, if the hotels are real and they do accept the coin then they must already have the necessary crypto terminal or something to accept it. However, the coin's project is really weak, market capitalization is low and trading volume is just some $2.5k. The price is also rather unstable, so I would probably not risk investing in it and using as payment. Nevertheless, it is still great that there are some coins accepted as means of payment in some places. It makes people more familiar with blockchain as well as allows the coins to be what they are meant to be.

Wow that’s great news then! I have relatives who lives in Greece and I would love to visit this country some day. And maybe I can buy Hellenic coin before the price increases and hopefully someday could use the coin while staying at a hotel who accepts altcoins or hailing a cab and driving around town that accepts altcoins as well.

As someone above said, the revolution has just begun, the spark is on fire and all the other will follow, also it is true that the price is low and the volume too but when the crypto community will discover it things will change.
I wish other altcoins will be accepted by few merchants for beginning and by more in the future, crypto have to replace fiat money somehow, that's the point.

And it turns out that Greece went on the path of Venezuela, created its own coin and put it into circulation in order to take the country out of default. Although ordinary people there continue to live normally and do not feel this problem on themselves. I think that this coin will be banned or restricted in the near future by the same creditors who saved Greece.

Wrong my friend, Hellenic Coin isn't the official crypto coin as Petro is for Venezuela, HNC is developed in order to take advantage of the strongest sector of Greek economy which is tourism, nevertheless everybody in the crypto community are seeking for a coin that applies and be accepted by the real economy.
Now, there is a coi, Hellenic Coin, that is accepted by a few for the moment merchants in the sector of Greek tourist providing also big discounts and instead of the community to reward this effort, most of them are trying to find the weak points and say why this, why that, is a spam, is a fraud, etc.

I am not sure of what to think of these so called national crypto currencies. I mean, I already support one,,, Gulden for Holland, but more like for several regions in Benelux relations, but it was never really because I support Holland, simply because they have a good merchant network with real use plus I needed a coin to diversify.

I guess that on paper Hellenic coin looks a lot like Gulden. But am curious to know if Hotel staff know how to use crypto
