So I was sort of "spring cleaning" through my tech, old MacBooks and what not and I realized I had a bitcoin wallet stored on my last Macbook from 2012 and found 300 bitcoins just hanging out. What a nice surprise!

Just recently, I started thinking of all the places I had some bitcoin. After racking my brain, etc. i found a couple gambling places where i just had a couple coins.. but hey, the few coins I found was only worth about 100 bucks when I transfered them, but today they are worth almost 1k... glad I found them.. There is still one bitcoin that I cant seem to find, but hey, im just glad I found the ones that I did...

I wonder how many people did that? when bitcoin was only a couple bucks, sold their computer with their wallet with what was then worth only a few bucks but now worth a lot more..

That must of made your day when you found those 300 coins.. Thats like finding 60k under your mattress, lol...

Seriously! I'm going through all my data and what not trying to remember things and see if I can find more money in these digital mattresses.

grats on your found coins!  i made a paper wallet with 20 coins on it and hid them in my treasure safe when that was only like 60 bucks. i forgot all about it until august, so funny i was doing an inventory of my silver and a sheet of computer paper is worth almost as much as the metal.

yeah, I've got into  bitcoin in early 2011, but believed the fud "idiots are paying for random numbers, this has to die soon"
now I'm living in a shitty appartement, with minimum subsistence and every day I think "why didn't I bother backup this "worthless wallet" on a wortheles cd?" I had the empty cds within reach, but couldn't be bothered to backup my wallet when I threw away my pc.... If i hadn't been so dumb this day, I would live in my own house now, instead of killing off the fungi growing in the walls on a daily basis.....
I think the days of getting rich are over, and bitcoin will maybe tenfold in worth, and not thousandfold as it did before, but just in case I will keep one btc.
Don't make my mistake folks, always backup

sorry for this maybe inlegible, and maybe ot post, but I'm straight drunk, and very sad *cry*

I wish I would have bought more than I did! Could have genuinely made millions then haha. But with as much as I did, I never imagined them to even have doubled or tripled in value back then.

Wow, pretty awesome find.

So many lost coin stories though. Smells to me the number is millions lost, not just 100.000.

Which brings me to another point, isn't it a shame that the inactive coins are going to have an effect on the worth of bitcoins (or am i wrong and the market will found out that the coins are missing and adjust automatically?). I wish there was a way to "deactivate" them and make the rest worth more.

I say cash it out and treat yourself. Or now follow me invest in cloud mining, I use CEX.io. 300 BTC will get you 3Ths of mining power. That's some good profit. But then again so is the 50k in BTC you just found. It is up to you, congrats on the find though.

Haven't decided what to do as of yet. I just recently cashed out the majority of my holdings from 2 years ago.

This is one of few ways to be bit-rich, find your bitcoins after forgetting them. It would be nice if I found my Bitcoins now (or in five years) instead of selling at $2 or $15 or $50.
