I have several only one remaining sold out of the new Casascius gold-plated Silver 1 BTC Physical Bitcoins for sale. Each coin contains 1 troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver and has the private key for 1 BTC behind the hologram on the back. Each coin also comes in an Airtite capsule. I used cotton gloves to handle the coins, so none of the coins were touched by me.

I have several brass 0.5 BTC coins for sale. Check out this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=223033.0

Send me a PM or post in this thread if you are interested.

Past sales for reference:

Do you also sell the coins, after they are unloaded? I am interested in the coin but not the 1 BTC.

I doubt anyone is going to redeem these for a long time, they'd lose too much value

You have it backwards. I bought 750 BTC with 5 oz of gold. At the time it was a good trade for both of us, but since then, gold has gone down and bitcoin has gone way up.

Right right, sorry. Yeah that's the thing about bitcoin, trades always work out at the time. Even like lazlo's pizza

Send a PM to Casascius. Maybe he'll sell you some bare coins.

Thanks for the tip, PMed him Smiley

Let me know how much he charged you? If he actually sold one?

2BTC for a 1BTC coin with $22 worth of silver.

Don't take this wrong, am I misreading something?  $350 seem quite the premium for the coin.
Super limited run or something?

They've become quite collectible, and somewhat difficult to acquire.

Not sure how collectible something is if it is still available.  I could collect alum can, but if Coke is still producing the product, there is no sense.

Are there stats on production runs, etc.  Isn't this a relatively new coin?

I would hope to see some stat saying only 1000coins made or some such.

Again, not to be taken wrong.  I don't mind buying items, but would like to know more about it other than the premium.

He originally sold 20 coins at 35 BTC just a few weeks ago. Now, his single coins are priced far below that and I'll have to sell at a loss. If he wants resellers, he can't compete with them like that.

New price -- 1.50 BTC
It's probably largely because the value increase of BTC means he can maintain his margins on a lower BTC price per coin.

A few weeks ago, bitcoin was only $200.   So, a $200 premium per coin
Since BTC has doubled in price against the dollar, this means you have to consider the premium should be half the number of bitcoin from 1 to .5 accordingly (plus loaded value of 1 BTC).

Sorry you are taking a loss, but against the dollar, you haven't lost.

Can't complain though, because you could have bought coin for half the price only weeks ago in order to get the physical coins.  Which means you are making a very nice profit.

I don't think dollars are relevant because I'm selling bitcoins that were bought with bitcoins and are sold for bitcoins. But, if you want to think in dollars, then look at it this way: I am losing more than $100 (0.25 BTC plus costs) on each coin.

John,

Understood.   Didn't want you to take offence.  It's all good.

I do agree that a manufacturer shouldn't compete with it's resellers.  Hope they (he) makes it up to you.
