Hi all,

I've been working on this project for the last few weeks. Anyway I thought I should share the project with everyone. My main documentation is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/14_aS8ibiplEprVMEj58Uv1u1eaaE3sMuAybTZJg-wqw/edit

wallet address: 1GtaPezXJnAcXhMy5Cq7QYuva463PYhRyR

Also I'm running it on ustream for a bit, in case anyone wants to add a little btc and watch it work. (beware it looks like ustream has at least a 20 second delay)

Also because the screen is small and bright you cant see the light going off when BTC is added. But later when it's all done I'll make a good video showing it all off, for now this is just an early demo. Ideas and feedback welcome!

CryptoCoin Jar Update #6 - 03.11.2013:

Body: Nothing new - 25% finished

Code:
-Integrated an operating system shutdown button
-Add in a blinking LED that indicates the system is running
-Set the system to automatically start up with the operating system
- 75% finished

Electronics: Wired up the “system running” LED and the reset button- 45% finished

Documentation: Starting to maintain this same log on bitcointalk.org ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=319884.0 ) - 20% finished

Notes: This week was busy with a lot of the smaller details worked out such as the having the system automatically start up. At this point all you have to do is plug the device in and within 50 seconds it will be fully operational. Additionally I made a shutdown button which when held down for 50 seconds shuts down the Linux OS.

At this point the only thing left that I can think of for the core functions and code is to make it resistant to signal disruptions. At present if it for any reason can’t connect to either data source for it’s information, it will simply stop. It will still display the same thing as it was displaying, but it won’t update. However the user will know it’s no longer working because of the “system running” LED I just installed which then won’t be blinking.

I’ve pretty much ended the idea of this being a piggy and I believe I’ve updated all documentation and sources where “piggy” is written, and replaced with “Jar”. However this leads me to the issue I’m having with coming up with a case. I did buy some plexiglass and I do have what I believe would be a good design, however I’m having problems cutting the plexiglass. For this I’ll need to do a little more research on what I might be doing wrong. On a positive note, it looks like the project is going to be finished a little bit early. It’s not written anywhere but it was expected the project would be finished by end of 2013, however currently I’m expecting to be completed by end of November, one month early.

Next steps include; improve signal disruption resistance, make a rough prototype for the case, research on how to run the whole thing on batteries.
