You will only be needing a PGP signature if you don't have any staked or posted Bitcoin Address in your previous posts.

I don't have the definitive idea of what PGP is, but I can give you the steps to look for off-forum answers.
  • Step 1: Open a New Tab or Browser Window
  • Step 2: Type google.com in the url bar, hit enter.
  • Step 3: Type "What is PGP" in the search bar, hit enter.
  • Step 4: Click the most relevant search result.

Thank me later.

If you're interested in having someone walk you through it, google would probably be your best bet. You can use the forum search function for this kind of thing, and you'll find a healthy dose of information. All I did was type in "PGP Security" in the forum search, clicked the first thread that wasn't this one, and found this quote :

Okay so basically PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) is a form of encryption used to communicate between two individuals. PGP is owned by Symantec so you will hear the term PGP/GPG used interchangeable, they are basically the same thing.

What is a PGP Signed Message?
- It is a signature basically. It is a form of digital data that accompanies a message. Think of it like your own written signature. Your own handwritten signature is unique and basically identifies you.

Why are they important?
-It validates that the individual who sent you message is who they say they are.
-It can be used to verify the authenticity of the message and to make sure it was not "tampered" with.

Let me know if you would like any other tutorial for other operating systems.

Yes, I recommend getting a PGP/GPG signature. They are free, simple, and very easy to use to communicate encrypted messages between two users.

I would suggest that if the information available to you still isn't enough for you to understand or set-up PGP then you might want to do more reading. Nobody can do your security for you, without also having access to whatever you are trying to secure.

Many people find easier to use bitcoin addresses to identify themselves because their first experience with cryptography as a whole was bitcoin itself.

Why should someone bother with learning PGP if you already got your own bitcoin node to use addresses to identify yourself? Is there any advantages or disadvantages?

Doesn't PGP depend on some servers hosting the keys or something? Honestly I never used it, im doing fine with BTC signatures.

PGP is pretty good for privacy. Link to the open source version https://www.gnupg.org/
