To reach member position you will need 10 merits points. It has been written in too many places, so my advice is for you to read before posting. If you want to rank-up you will need to know how the forum works, to be patient and to stop obsessing yourself with the merit system: every day we all can see new topics about merit, people seem to be indefatigable about that. I can see every day how more and more newbies are truly obsessed with merit system, and this is not the healthier way to take here on the forum.
Just, please, be patient, read before posting, learn as much as you can about cryptoworld, try to help others, try to make a contribution...Merits will come (or not), but everything you learn from here is free and it will be really useful for you. So just enjoy your participation here instead of thinking about merit.

You should ask your friend as your merit history shown to send you another one more round of rewarded merits, which contain 4 more  points of merit (sorry, I am just kiding, lol). The guy sent you 6 merits for one (not really high-quality), then you should ask that guy give you 4 more. However, be careful when try abusing merit system. The cost of merit abusement is very, very expensive. Highly warning you about that.

You have to get 60 activities and 10 merit for be a Member. I can suggest official bitcointalk thread about Merit & new rank requirements;

You need to have 10 merits with 60 point activity, it is a little harder to get merit points than activity points so it might take a bit longer to reach member rank than it did to reach jr. member rank.

You don't just need merits, you need the ability to read posts, and sadly, that seems to be lacking in the forum now.

You don't just need merits, you need the ability to read posts, and sadly, that seems to be lacking in the forum now.
More important than ability to read, lots of members in the forum lack of skills to use search function of both Google and bitcointalk forum.
For someone who lack such essential skill and have desire to learn about it, here you go:
