What do you people mean by manipulated?
It's a free market, whoever can move it will move it as he pleases.

And you can bet he isn't going to move it in your favour. Talk about market manipulation is on the same level as bears shitting in the woods and getting burned if you play with fire.

Why? Why not

I've heard both sides of the argument and to a certain extent, they both make sense more or less.

Thoughts?

I really don't know about this but it might be manipulated by some groups or any people which want to see bitcoin price is down. I see that every time bitcoin price is going to higher, in a few hours later, the price is down again and it seems difficult to reach higher. I think it is related to much negative news about bitcoin and any country that doesn't like bitcoin and they want to push bitcoin to go down again although I am sure that they have bitcoin too.

Any market depends on its participants and regulators. The influence of regulators on the market is obvious. As for market participants, there are large ones among them. Naturally, their influence on the market is great and with cooperating they can manipulate it.

Maybe it's just paranoia but there hasn't been any important FUD or anything like that as far as I know, so I think it's the whales that the markets are down for so long now.

I wouldn't say it is being manipulated in the artificial ways. I mean the market is getting manipulated but it is all happening naturally. The downtrend surge was the first reason to get people nerve wrecked about the whole situation and then later on people started realising that they are loosing the money. In the long run this chain reaction started growing slowly and as we can see it has ended up badly and now BTC is moving up and down near to 7-8K USD. I think what happens from now onwards is simple, those people with big bucks in the hand will start buying huge quantities of the bitcoins and will push the market upwards. Thats easy output that we will see now.

The market currently is being manipulated. And with various news flying around about crypto ads ban, that's enough reasons for this whole dump being faced everyday. Also the Mtgox Bitcoin sales is crashing the market as well.
Yes, major reason is banning ads Facebook, Twitter and after few months Google.
There are so big restrictions for going well of cryptocurrency.
Today I saw bitcoin rise slowly.  It can go slowly,  if bitcoin up then altcoin will be up I hope.
Market manipulation also good but people's who are holding coins, they are in tension.

There will always be market manipulation in this industry. Coins with low volume are easily manipulated specially by whales. You just need to know how to thrive.

Whales making more money for themselves? Grin

A lot of people like to cry and complain about whales but if I had to guess they just want more money so.

I believe there is a possibility for that, the big players might make use of this chance when the global markets have some unstable news that will terrify the smaller investors from investing and go out of the market with net loss. At the same time they can make use of this chance to buy potential tokens/ eth at a all time low price and also having a greater profit margin.

By who is manipulated?
US government is trying to manipulate the crypto platform but we have another supporting country is ready to survive the crypto platform because Russian government is more supported in Crypto platform so currently some issues are created in Big whales and Big MNC companies. It is just a temporary rumour but no one should manipulated in crypto market.

All markets are being manipulated even stock exchange, you are just not aware of it.  If you can see the chart, there is a huge demand in bitcoin but new whales are preventing it to  jump high because they also need to accumulate in order for them to manipulate the market better.

Sometimes, the prices of crypto increase or decrease suddenly within few minutes then it turn back into it's normal trend. This would be a result of market manipulation. Whales or organizations who hold a great deal amount of that coin want the price of crypto to move.

How do you define manipulation? Every market participant naturally want the market to go their direction and do their best to affect the market in certain ways so that they make more profits. Where do you want to draw the line for manipulation or not manipulation?

This is a familiar thing for the crypto world. Because manipulating the market is a strategy, to attract investors buy or invest in bitcoin prices are down. Investors who have bought bitcoin at a high price, do not panic and do not rush to sell it because one day bitcoin prices will rise again. Be patient if we do not want to lose ..

I am no expert when it comes to the market or the values of the digital currencies although i know that there are certaon factors that greatly affect its values and some of which would be the supply and demand ratio of the coin. I haven’t thought of the market as being manipulated but maybe, this is pretty much possible but we can never be sure about such possibility.

At some point, I want to believe that bitcoin really got manipulated. Probably the whales has the power to make sudden changes in the price. I stiill believe that bitcoin has decentralized feature, and no one can actually intervene on its price. There is no denying that there were still big holders that can actually make a big effect on price, but surely this effect will not take to long. The price will still go on according to the trend of demand.

Of course it is being manipulated, if it wasn't then no one would be able to earn on it. They need people to invest, so they could earn. Trading and all of the markets, will be always manipulated by speculative big whales, so they could earn more money!
