I checked the sticky to check if it is already planned, though I have gone through the doc very fast, so it's possible that I have missed if it was planned. If not planned, is it possible to implement night mode to our beloved forum? It can be very helpful for those members who spend much time here on daily basis. As an example, I do spend a lot of time here and I read a lot. For this reason, sometimes my eyes burn so badly. It is already good, it would be better if night mode option is also available. ON/OFF

This is already available. You could see it by visiting beta.bitcointalk.org but it's not working anymore (?).

Unfortunately, I'm unable to check the given link as it says "This site can’t be reached". But I'm requesting this option to be available here in this forum (bitcointalk.org). I hope someday it will be available for the sake of our eyes.

Was able to find a cached version of it (it's not recent enough but you can see the dark shades). But I'm requesting this option to be available here in this forum (bitcointalk.org). I hope someday it will be available for the sake of our eyes. There's been similar request to yours and given how everything is (until now, for this forum), then it's best to wait for the new forum instead of hoping for its implementation here. - For the time being, you can refer to this thread ( How to easily change the bitcointalk.org skin and other SMF sites to dark theme) or simply use a 3rd party extension on your chrome browser.

@SFR10Thanks for the info. I have checked the post of mexicantarget and followed everything he instructed to set the dark theme, but I didn't like the colors which were available as a built-in option at the extension. However, I'm more interested to have the system in this forum rather than using a third-party software. It would be better to wait until the new forum is launched. I think it's not coming anytime soon. . . .

I'd see if adjusting brightness and contrast levels on your display and installing f.lux does any good for your eye strain.

+1 f.lux is a life-changing software and I can't imagine myself browsing the web at night without it. P.s: there are other ways to make BTT "night mode" (still requires a browser extension).

Thanks for the info, I didn't know about this software. I installed the software, but it is reddish in color - I think my eyes need to adjust to it and will take some time. I will use it sometime to check if it helps my eyes or not.

You should set your f.lux settings to slowly ramp up in intensity and you will hardly notice the difference. I always turn on f.lux at night and it works wonders in preventing eye strain.

I absolutely support this request, it would be actually a very useful thing. Just in a form of a simple button would do, and even some primitive scheduler would be appreciated.
One other thing, which you can do, while there are themes disabled and the Night Mode is not available: use the Night Lights feature (for Windows 10), the Night Light for Linux (GNOME, but there are similar solutions for xfce and KDE available) and Android , the Night Shift for MacOS. It will at least help your eyes with the Blue Light radiation problem.

It would be nice to have a dark theme for our bellowed forum. I am using dark themes whenever possible and not only because of reduced eyes straining. Didn't even know about Night Lights feature in Win 10 and I consider myself computer savvy, damn.

Id appreciate this too, the screen is a little bright when reading posts in bed at night. I have tried the lower contrast and brightness. A nice black screen in true night mode would be great.

This would be very helpful. I'd prefer not to install a 3rd party program or extension onto chrome as there are enough processes running with it already.

I agree. Night Mode is quickly becoming an option on almost every app or website. It would be great if it was natively implemented on bitcointalk.

By option, the theme can go into night mode using the user's local time taken from the browser or from profile settings.

This can easily by done by just downloading a Chrome stylesheet plugin and adding a few rules to darken things up (this for the current forum obviously)
