When lottery starts, the final number of tickets is unknown, it starts with 0 (or maybe there is something I am not aware of). It changes every time someone buys/wins ticket - and therefore adds his ticket to the pool. The definitive number of tickets for the given lottery round is known only when the process is ended and it is not possible to receive another ticket for that round.

I agree with you, those ranges are highly likely to happen. What I would do, if I didn't miss it this time, I'd bet a smaller amount, like 0.7 of other bets on the $17,501 - $20,000 range. And even smaller amount, like 0.5 of my other bets on the "$25,001 - $27,500" range with 8.78x outcome odds. Can't wait for the 31st of July 2022 to see if I would still lose. Bitcoin is very unpredictable after all.

It is not about how much you need to win, people with millions of tickets got nothing or low rewards on draws where people with few hundred won the big reward. It is about being present when it happens and having a chance. Even 1 ticket is very important over zero, and if you have 5k tickets that puts you ahead of a lot of people, a ton of people actually, still doesn't guarantee anything but it is better to get into this with 5k than nothing.

I don’t believe that there’s any fix criteria for winning with the lottery tickets, because you could win it with single digits, few hundreds or even not win with those 5k tickets.
