There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Speaking of which, can we get an opportunity to hold a speech at Defcon about BitCoins? We just need one guy to represent us as a community.

the notes say he will be speaking about -  "BitCoin: Network Manipulation for Fun And (Literal) Profit "

sounds like he is sharing an attack vector or something like that on bitcoin, or manipulating the market somehow.   I guess one should expect that from a hacker conference.
Or is this just a 'dangerous' sounding headline on an otherwise bitcoin-positive talk?

Unless your going  Grin

PS. I don't think its a vulnerability about the network, just using bots to perform automated trading so you make money while not on the PC. Reminds me a few years ago about the guy that made over million dollars installing malware that infected peoples machines with ref feral links so when the victims went to amazon the hacker always got a cut.

Given that I live in Vegas I'd be ashamed to not show up Wink

Any other bitcoiners gonna meet me there? Perhaps we can arrange a very special edition of the Las Vegas bitcoin meetup group with special guest attendees!

Defcon Badges sold out, I have a generic Human badge, and Bribe Card.  I might get to exchange it for a real badge in a few hrs.
