I am specifically talking to the guy addressing his situation, I am not responding to the OP

I'll assume that is your way of conceding the fact that you cannot prove this and that it's nonsense.

You cannot just keep avoiding questions that are convenient for you. I'm aware who you responded to, because you quoted them and I'm not that clueless. Your response was still within this thread, and regardless of who you were addressing you were still talking baseless nonsense. This does not change anything that has been said.

The only thing that user said was "Wow, good post. I try not to worry about merit, and hope it will come.", which is the correct attitude to put towards it. Worry about being a contributing member of the community and about becoming more knowledgeable or helpful. There are the right things to be concerned about, and you are trying to steer this member and anyone else that reads your post in the wrong direction.

I have explain to you that I am not suggesting that to him, why would you still saying that I am suggesting that when its clearly I am explaining to him that there is people who earn alot of Merit just being not obsess with merit and they gets the merit in due time, but they are BTCguru and sometime I find they copy alot from somewhere.

My sentence clearly just an exclusion of those who will get merit in due time with their posting, I am not suggesting him to do that

If copying from wikipedia is bannable you go and find them, because I am not doing that and I myself don't think it is morally ok to do, even if I do I make sure I do credit the source

If you check his merit earned (0) and posting(88) history (mostly at alternative cryptocurrencies) you clearly can see that he do not have the right mindset of contributing to the community becoming more knowledgeable or helpful. If that is what he is doing now and he still keep doing it, without worrying about his posting quality do you think he will earn any merit as its clearly seen now he is not getting any.

Its good not to be obsess with merit but it also not good not to worry about your posting quality either, I am trying to talk him to at least get his posting quality up a bit, be constructive and helpful, I am not telling him to be obsess with merit and open lots of topic discussing about merit only

I'm not too worried about merit. It'll come in time with posts that contribute something to the community. Thinking of merits every time you post isn't a mindset that will actually bring you a return on your time.

Just relax and enjoy the conversation! If you're helpful and contribute something of worth, people will notice. Smiley

It's very difficult and very bad to get the advantages. I hate this rule. I think it can only be obtained by posting high-quality articles.

Why have you posted this in a thread about merit. You will get better replies if you stay on topic, and post on the correct boards.

What is quality post ? Many Newbies and Jr. members are struggling to get merit. Its always the same story that the posts is not constructive or the quality is not good. How does a person decide which post is quality and deserved merit ?
A quality post is a post which adds a value to the topic being discussed in a particular thread. A post which shed a light on unexplored options of topic are good quality posts. Many posts which you could see have one word or oneliner responses or for that matter many member posting redundant reply are somewhat poor quality posts(AKA spam/garbage-post).
Thus look at some good posts which received merits from other. When you get merit from other try to appreciate the gesture by giving merit to other good poster.
At the same time avoid being reciprocal that if someone send you merit for a good post then you are not obliged to give back a merit to sender. However you find the sender has some good post which should get merit then send some of your merit.  After all merit is for sharing.

Hi, people. Lets discuss different ways of gettitting merit and give constructive and creative tips.
1. I know that we should write quality posts for getting merit. So I offer to tell about it in that topic. Which post is worthy of reward? Please write here different tips for improvement our messages.
What it have to consist of? Which words posts should include?
2. I've created Telegram channel for discussion different questions about BT forum. You can ask me about it PM.

Lets help everyone and make Bitcointalk great again!)

As much as I support the idea, it is actually bad because we’ll tend to encourage those users who just post nonesense and are not relevant at all. That is the purpose of merits, I believe and that is to filter those users who just post because it is require in the bounty programs that they belong to. So, let’s just leave it to the people if they find a post worthy of merits.

Nice initiative to help new members to get merits. One thing you might reconsider is talking about merits in telegram channel, better do it in the forum itself to bring transparency.

The topic is likely announcement on new channel to make deals on merit exchanges.
Very creative initatiative, but I guess it won't work.
Good luck.

There are many threads regarding merits on the forum already, but few of them talk about which I consider being the most important point: Do not get obsessed with merits.
For you can write a great thread and it can be lost in between all the topics in here. There are too many people here in the forum, and new threads are wroten each minute. That's because the best move is to relax, to do your best and to not wait for merits everytime you think you have written a great text 'cause maybe it isn't regarded as you hope and you can feel frustrated.
Another advice should be: choose well where to post. If you are always posting in the altcoin section it is going to be difficult to earn merits. I think the best way is to post in many sections, always by reading before posting about the topic in discussion. I think the "press" one is a really good section to post because there is always hot discussion about whatś going on with the crypto world on the press.
Inform yourself. Of course. Before even writing a single word, learn about, read a lot, and think about what is your own opinion, take a minute to build an idea, reflex about the topic... For good topics need a previous meditation.
The last advice: never beg for merits. We all are tired of people begging for merits on the Newbie and the Meta board. Begging is not the way, you all should learn it as soon as possible, for the only think you are going to achieve by begging is to be put on "ignored" by many users.

So, in short, those are my bits of advice. I have many more, but all of them has been told here, so read before posting, read every answer. Read, read, read...

Thank you for such a detailed and full answer is not the question that I think many are interested in. After reading you to me it became clearer how to write and what thoughts to present in the forum bitcointalc

Get a merit from someone very difficult. You should not just write an excellent and useful post, but your post should really please a person. And then he will probably share with you.
