Crossfire Mining?

I am a softcore part time miner, so I am  thinking to buy another GPU for both game and mining.
Is it possible to crossfire them to play offline game, then un-crossfire without having to unplug the xfire bridge and restart. So i can use 1 card for playing MMORPG while the other can keep mining?  I remember people mention that for crossfire both card will run on the same clock speed. After  un-crossfire can i run them on different clock/mem speed and voltage?

You'll get more hashes/second if they run un-crossfired.

I think there's an option in Catalyst Control Center somewhere to disable Xfire profiles for certain things, try disabling it for your mining program.

I agree. Crossfire just reduces the hashes per second.

After a quick AVP benchmark run, I disabled crossfire and had no issues running scrypt on both gpus, without having to reboot. Then I stopped mining with GPU0 and ran AVP while GPU1 continued to mine.

That last part isn't new to me as I have flipped between the gamer/htpc/miner mode many times before. You'll be ok as long as GPU0/ the main display, is run at stock speeds.

I'm using the 13.9 drivers with the 13.5 CAP1 app profiles, btw.

Yes this is typically what I do when editing hi res raw images at the same time mining. I set the GPU running the monitor to not be included in the miner. It also gives me a cooler temperature running only 1 GPU in my dual GPU card.

You can always de-active the first GPU just for gaming and the real continue to do the mining work....
