How do you think to reward merit with measurable things?

Please share your opinion whether agree of disagree....

I just notice so many member of this bitcointalk forum still concern of merit reward, I think it is normal in every community to be rising the rank. Nowadays, there is merit system applied in this forum beside other measurable factor such as activity, but unfortunately current merit system is still unclear for many people. This kind is in contrary with blockchain spirit for transparency. Why? Because the rewarding is too personal, based on subjectivity of a person or a rewarder even there are some of the rewarder to try keeping objectivity. Even though it is still unclear for many members, I try to issue my thinking how if there is additional mechanism to reward merit with following:

Generally, there should be applied two merit reward classification:
1. There should be subjective merit reward such as currently applied
2. There should be measurable merit reward as below description.

Merit reward based on measurable factors:

1. Number of read or views, even this is mostly lucky but at least there is a reward for a posting that read by lot of people. It means the posting is liked or interested to many people. Range of views number for merit reward :
   a. 50-100 views / reads : 1 merit
   b. 101-200 views / reads : 2 merit
   c. 201-300 views/reads: 3 merit, etc
   d. so on...
Even there are no replied or comments, this kind posting should be deserved for merit reward

2. Number of replied or comments, same as above no 1.
       a. 50-100 replied : 1 merit
       b. 101-200 replied : 2 merit
       c. 201-300 replied: 3 merit, etc
       d. so on...

3. If possible to create in this bitcointalk such as like in facebook, it can be seen that if many people like the post even that people do not have smerit but still can contribute to merit reward for the poster. The range can be as below :
       a. 5-10 like : 1 merit
       b. 11-20 like : 2 merit
       c. 21-30 like: 3 merit, etc
       d. so on...

There are also weighted of who is the viewer or reader, who is the replier or commenter, and who is the liker based on bct rank. It is simple like signature regulation as such below :
       a. brand new or newbie : 1 weight
       b. Jr member                : 2 weight
       c. Member                    : 3 weight
       d. Full member             : 4 weight
       e. Sr. member              : 5 weight
       6. Hero member           : 6 weight
       7. Legendary                : 7 weight
This weight to determine above 3 criteria such as if a newbie read a post, the result of read shall be :
       1 read x 1 weight = 1 read.

If a legendary read a post, it should be :
       1 read x 7 weight = 7 read.
It should be same to other criteria.

I believe above mechanism will be easily understood and transparent for all member here, while still keep the spirit for fight spam and increase the quality of posting. Other consideration is maintaining transparency of the forum, as following blockchain character for transparency.

I think the idea is great....Clearer parameters to be applied for how to get merit, it is inline with blockchain character for keeping transparency and now in this forum should also follow the transparency. As I heard before merit system implemented, there were measurable parameters implemented specially by activity numbers. This activity numbers determined by posting number and also time.

I agree with your idea, this mechanism should be implemented.

This isn't the blockchain here, it is a discussion forum where there's little discussion going on except from those getting paid handsomely to blurt out as much nonsense characters as gets them to weekly maxima.  No surprise then that you favor a system that would allow you to rank up without having to actually write something that we'd want to read.

Say, why don't we just go back to the old system of only needing activity? 

You do realize why we have the merit thing now, do you not?  If that's a negative, I suggest you take a moment and visit the last post of the first unpinned topic in economicd, and this can be done at any random time of your choosing.  To any normal reader, it will be readily apparent.

2. Ask a very simple question that is easy to answer. Examples:
"Why does the price of Bitcoin change?"
"How much profit should you aim to make before cashing out?"
"ETH is the new Bitcoin!"

3. Get lots of merits.


And that is why the first 2 points will never be implemented (hopefully), as it encourages trash threads.

Take it easy mate and keep calm , no perfect things in this world. Current merit system seems successful to reduce spam, but I do not yet see comprehensive evaluation of this. Just statistic merit transfer that mostly shown here, it is not bad at least there are somebody concern and want to give something and to collect data is not easy since there is time to be spent, and also energy. I think someone who gather data and also show the statistic is deserved to receive merit for their effort.

What my idea presented is not changing current merit implementation, specially if there are some people who are scared for their un-clear reason of their merit giving as it is too personal, this leads to merit trading. Just by shit posting but it is rewarded with merit, very funny to me . How can be such a common posting but it is appreciated?
It is not talking only rank up in the forum, but more for appreciation. In this merit system, appreciation is shown by merit reward. The problem is the reward mechanism is not transparent, while many people sounds transparency until the statistic of merit transfer to be explored, then to be dug up also the reasons why a people give big merit to another people. It should be not like that as the current merit mechanism is FULLY PERSONAL REASON.
It doesn't matter if someone gives 100 merit to another member for a useless posting, why not? It is allowed in current merit mechanism, the answer will be very easy from the merit giver. "I agree with the posting, the posts is funny then I like it, the post is inspired me", etc. Who can argue such reasons?

Here I just want additional mechanism that is clearing up hidden things such as the personal reason to give merit as currently has been running. It is easier to transact with few people for rewarding merit rather than to transact with lot of people for rewarding merit except you have lot of money to do that

I see a very useful posting will be read many times, and I think the poster should be appreciated as it indicates his/her post has attracted many people interest. If replied to be a problem due to trash thread with simple question that is easy to answer, it should be changed to other mechanism option or removed at all. Even there is I found something merit is rewarding there as make me feel funny....Where is the constructive post as which should be followed for merit rewarding?
I do not believe many members know the spirit of merit implementation, it should be well informed to all member and noticed let say in every login then every online member will be reminded to post constructive thing.

My spirit thing is to reduce spam by driving qualitative and constructive post but also to open appreciation with clear parameters.

That is serious men should really need to look into also I don't see it henceforth I don't frequently stalking you it is hard because there's no follow button in your profile.

But maybe your gut is right I'll go check on it.

Edit: Frankenstein didn't rise up probably it is just a side effect of too much reading, if there's one I can't see it not because I want to.

I like you with the trolling thread which is very interesting. I guess there are spammers will read your thread, and hope that they will like it, too. That is likely what spammers did in the forum, but I don't know whether they have earned lots of merits as you said or not, lol.
In fact, Discussion boards (both bitcoin and altcoins) are among the most spamming boards in the forum, alongside with bounties and gambling boards.

Hello friends, I am just looking around in this meta as newbie like me needs to lot of reading specially in beginners thread. I do not know what is meta thread meaning, but as I understood from first posting and the comments, there are many questions in my mind.
1. What is definition of constructive and high quality post?
2. For whom is it constructive and high quality?
3. Who will judge a posting is constructive or high quality and how he judge constructive and high quality?
4. so on....many questions in my mind, do not understand at all for this kind of high quality.

I agree with the first posting, there should be clear parameter of high quality not only decided by each person.

Merit is meant to reward quality posts, and it shouldn't be able to be achieved just by gaming the system by creating crappy threads. Your suggestion would just make the forum infinitely worse than it already is as people will just spam threads for views and it's already the trash threads that get the most views and comments.

This is like asking what is good art or music. There is no definition of what is constructive or high quality. Surely you are able to determine this yourself when you see a post.
