Hello,

as 3GB cards will soon be unusable for Ethereum and also Bitmain seems to bring ETH ASIC miners, I am looking for a good coin to mine.

What would you suggest?
Ravencoin?

I don't have a problem with Bitmain, I understand, that they also want to make money.
I am just looking for another coin now.

come on dude,
no offense, I know if you kidding or serious about that, your recommend like that can't help @OP. sometimes you must on the right track adjust with a question.

As the fact that 1060 3Gb doesnt have much intensity, so I think the best choice is still keep mining Ethas algo (ETH) and Equihash (ZEC).
I'm not sure which is your GPU, but my EVGA 1060 3Gb could hash 24mh/s. The profit is not much now, but it's ok.

Don't you think, that they would be also good for mining Ravencoin?
I did look in that tutorial and it looks interesting too with 1060 3GB: http://1stminingrig.com/how-to-mine-ravencoin-rvn-with-amd-nvidia-gpu-and-cpu/

If this is a dedicated rig and not your home computer.

Then just install windows 7 or Linux and your 3gb should work again for a few more months.

Yes, it's my own rig. But it is with 8 x 1060 GPUs. So as far as I know, 8 GPUs does not work in Windows 7, 7 are max., right!?

Only Zcash is the best option actually. Some friends of mine are doing experiments now with worthless coins actually like bytecoin. For real miners zcash is the most viable coin to be mined with these cards for the moment. With dstm miner each of these cards overclocked via Msi can achieve 310 sol/s so 8 of them are almost 2500 sol/s which is a good amount of hashrate.

Ethereum is a good option now, but if you want better profit you can try to find some new coins. Sometimes you can get good return from those new coins, but of course you are taking big risk compare to mining popular coins.

EXP or music coin come to mind and you can still dual mine from those forks.

Should ASICS show up, cryptonote is another option, 1060s with the right clocking get decent hashrates for relatively little power use. You can use something like cryptunit.com to check which cryptonight fork is doing the best at the moment.

ETC has a higher DAG than ETH

Also you can still mine ETH if you put your mind to it.
There's always Windows 7, Linux or Windows Server.
