Experts from the University of California conducted a study that showed that the speculation of digital currencies is not as profitable as it is considered.

Mining is more profitable than speculation in cryptocurrencies
Scientists have made a number of calculations, as well as analyzed the possible profits from mining and compared it with the speculation of almost two dozen altcoins. Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum did not participate in the study.
Experts turned to the real trading data and took into account the costs associated with the production of coins. It turned out that the profit from mining is more stable than when trying to earn on speculation altcoins. Return on investment in mining was from 7 to 18%, while speculators can expect only 1 to 0.5% of income.
The researchers clarified that the digital asset market is quite unstable, and the monitoring was carried out for several days, respectively, their forecast should be considered short-term.

There is one major difference in earnings of both the sources.  In mining activity you may not loss your investment but in speculative investments there are threats / chances of loss of one's investment too.  Suppose one bought btc @ 20k with the expectation of returns but the market started falling and he sold @ 12K means net loss of $8 k for the transaction made.
Mining is more safe as compared to very risky speculative investment business.

Personally for me, speculating is much more profitable than mining.

I had few mining attempts and finally quit it few months back. I'm on profit, but not enough to worth my time.
While I'm making my living from crypto speculations.

For me because mining has a regular income that is why they said that it is much profitable than speculating in the market , people dont consider the other expenses maybe if they consider it they will found out that it is not that profit they will get.

I see that mining crypto is a very exhausting process and not as profitable now, while the prices of altcoins and bitcoin are going down. Is it safer to mine bitcoins than to speculate with them? I think yes, keeping in mind that speculation doesn`t require powerful graphic cards.

This seems like complete nonsense. Speculation is far more profitable if you pick the right coins and know what you're doing. Mining is far more profitable if you don't. It's really that simple.
