I just wanted to share this amazing story about a guy named Scott Foster who played for the Chicago Blackhawks as an emergency backup goalie some days ago.
The guy works as an accountant and after work he was called in to attend the Blackhawks game and in the 3rd period entered the rink after Colin Delia had to leave the game due to cramping. A dream come true  Grin

I heard his prior experience in hockey was playing in high-school hockey and after that only playing in beer leagues.
WTF?
Is that all you need to be pulled up to be playing in a professional team in the NHL? Cheesy
I just wonder how much they are going to pay him for playing the 14 minutes he spent on the ice to finish the game for them. Wink

That's awesome, even though they were up by a lot during the 3rd period the opposing team can't convert their shots what a goalie.

I just wonder how much they are going to pay him for playing the 14 minutes he spent on the ice to finish the game for them. Wink
According to the article contracts like the one Foster had should be unpaid. Paid or not at least he received a player of the game belt from the blackhawks team plus the opportunity to play at a pro hockey game with little experience is a dream for people who follows hockey. That belt could cost a lot of $$$ tho.  Wink

Even though he wasn't paid for his appearance, he became pretty famous as he was on the national tv and all the news outlets. I think some interviews are paid and if he is invited to talk shows and such he will definitely receive a handsome remuneration. Plus his business is going to blow up as everyone would want the services of that accountant who played for the Chicago Blackhawks and has a perfect save percentage of 1.000  Grin

He basically was the 4th option of the team as even the 3rd Fill-in Goalie got injured due to cramping during the mid game. But I have to say he is playing like a pro during that time keeping his save percentage to a perfect 100%. The accountant is not new to Hockey as he is also playing on a recreational league for a long time now. This is truly a dream come true for any fan or even a normal person to even play at least one game in a pro league. Winnipeg Jets surely got embarrassed to be held scoreless to a rookie goalie.

Not a huge fan of hockey but I'm definitely a fan of sports in general and it was nice to read this story. We actually have something similar in football where Ibrahimovic, that is also 36 and had a lot of problems with injuries and is now playing for the LA Galaxy. He probably wasn't even suppose to enter on this first game, but he did, at 71min, and was still able to score two goals, and one of them was truly amazing.

It's always nice to see athletes performing this well at such high age (for sports at least).

Players like him are not paid? Shocked
I did not realize back up for a back up goalie were just doing it for the fun of it. Wink
It does give him a good story to tell his grand kids.
Since he is 36 years old I doubt they will let him play an entire game or even have him on for the next two seasons.
Goalies I think retire earlier than most other hockey players in the national league of the NHL.

No money can buy to the thing he had experienced but even though we do like on getting paid on the things we had done but well it ends up on getting unpaid but the things you do said is really a possible thing to happen on where he can potentially generate. This was dream come true into his part playing up Chicago Blackhawks inspite he has stopped for decade ago as I have read on the article. Luckily his skills as a goalie able to hand that situation. If things comes worst then the game might turn upside down.

While I'm not really a big fan of hockey, I really love these kind of stories and if I was the one in that position I will not care at all if I got paid or not, playing an official game with a professional team is like a dream come true I do not think that I am exaggerating but I think this story may even become a movie, not a Hollywood movie but maybe a TV movie.

A little follow-up article I found about whether or not Scott Foster got paid for his performance with the Chicago Blackhawks:
Quote
The Blackhawks might not have paid their viral emergency goalie any money after all. The NHL is now using Scott Foster to sell merchandise.
Link to the article:
https://www.sbnation.com/nhl/2018/3/30/17181908/blackhawks-scott-foster-emergency-goaltender

And the gist of it:
Quote
The player gets $500, and he gets to keep the jersey with his name on it. But it seems like the Blackhawks have moved to not pay Foster anything at all. The league is selling merchandise with Foster’s name on it:

Why am I not surprised that the Hawks are making a profit off Scott's fame by selling jerseys lol  Grin

Well, I don't know if it will happen but it still could knowing that Netflix is into different stuff or something. If someone is great enough to play, probably he's a secret weapon or something. Kidding.
