I have initiated a withdrawal request with MtGox on September 29. Today is November 1 and I still have not received the funds. Equally concerning is that on my account history the withdrawal request not even appears. I have submitted so far two service requests and all I got was “we are currently experiencing a back-log of withdrawals that we need to process”.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Not sure bout the rest of y'all, but I've known about that for months now.

They've stated pretty openly that there is a huge backlog.  Search around on here and on reddit.com/r/bitcoin to find many threads discussing that topic.

Personally, Mt.gox has been slow, but the support staff has been polite and helpful, and bitcoin deposits and withdrawals have never been slower than 14 hours one time for me, but under an hour most of the time.  I imagine it is the US and strict interpretations of money laundering laws that are making their lives quite difficult in regards to USD withdrawals at the moment.

This is not acceptable for mainstream adoption.  The average person wants faster access to their funds and will never use with Mt. Gox knowing this info.

Are there more reliable exchanges for US purchases?  How should the average , non-tech person (and I stress average and non-tech) buy bitcoin and store it?

If the average non-tech person can't take 5 minutes to read on this forum and learn of this rather persistent gox problem (and all the other alternatives available) than that person shouldn't be involved/invested in bitcoins.

Please DO NOT send me private messages asking for help setting up GPU miners. I will not respond!!!

Hey 01sandel,

I experienced the same issue as you. But it was due to my incompetence. When looking at the history tab in the MTGox login section, you only see the BTC activity. You need to click the EUR or USD button at the top of the page. You should see everything then.

Still the withdrawals take ages Wink

Regards

Thanks everybody for your replay.  Thank you trade-for-pokermoney for your suggestion; it worked. After three inquiries to the service center probably they should have told me that. No disrespect for TheNewAnon135246 but obesity is also a known problem and merely brushing it aside will only aggravate it. I don’t know how others think but for me any amount of money lost is A LOT! I did not know where to go to let people know what to expect when they try to get your money back from MtGox. I thought that this forum would be a good platform to let the community know and even more important: to do something about it.

Coinbase works fine for US customers. Especially with low amount deposits

Bitstamp orders are higher for what I think is the first time ever than MtGox.  Gox are going down and down.

Have you tried contacting them again?  7 weeks is ridiculous, even by Gox standards.

Some waiting over 3 months last time I read other user experiences.

Just hope it comes one day, or cancel + buy BTC and withdraw USD elsewhere (it might be pretty costly option)
