Good job snailbrain Namecoin Community! Any extra updates? Smiley

not yet.. (fixed your comment)

there is an old bug which can cause corrupt nameindex.dat... due to the update which has more "rigorous" checks it may have caused a problem for btcguild.
They are (or already have) redownloading chain. Hopefully will be ok, but if it does happen again, we should hopefully be able to fix the (used to be rare) nameindex bug once and for all.

hopefully.

btcguild = "so far, so good"

nmc may still have a bumpy ride till the rebase or re-implementation on libcoin (and maybe beyond).. but there are enough people (and devs [not that devs aren't people]) working on Namecoin and related projects to improve and maintain it.
Even if this fork is/was successful, there are some little "not as important" issues that need fixing, but will be left till the next hard fork.

Some things to look forward to:

Secure Login Systems
Namecoin Torrent Client (decentralized/censorship resistant)
Fair Name Trading (buy/sell namecoin names in your client safely)
Namecoin Instant Messenger (secure messaging system)
Lite client
Decentralized MicroBlog
Secure Web Browsing .bit domains

and much more...

Please support namecoin by donating to the NMC development fund, or registering and helping on the forum. www.namecoin.info

New version seems to be working fine so far (http://namecoin.info)

http://explorer.bit is stuck so classic version might have a problem.

yeah, i guess
http://explorer.dot-bit.org/
is showing the old chain,
if there are people still mining on the old chain it should appear there.
but with current difficulty they will take forever to found a block.
is there any other explorer to see the current chain?

ghash.io looks to be mining just fine.

update: explorer.bit working fine now.

After the hardfork I cannot find any website to view the transactions of a NMC wallet address. Can someone help me here?

That all sounds really great, can't wait for these features to be developed. Do you have any idea about timeline, when any of those items will be released?

I like namecoin, I do believe it has a lot of potential and at the same time I am wondering why all new 'fun-alt-coins' seem to have a better accessibility?
What strikes me every time I am trying to find a mac-wallet for namecoin, that I don't seem to be able to find one, unless I am compiling it myself, right?
(and that is not going to happen because I am not that tech-savvy) I feel like with the dot-bit forum, namecoin.info and namecoin.org - there are too many resources that all look very different that it is hard to tell which one is legit and more importantly the right source of information.... I can imagine that this simple fact alone is a huge hurdle for a wider adoption, let alone the missing mac-wallet software.

What I would wish for is an official entity that has credibility to organize web-presence and offers downloads of official software (with pgp and or md5).
All these softwares from to be downloaded at mediafire, box.com etc... don't really create a lot of trust, in my opinion.

I just wanted to put that out there as I believe, getting these things sorted out would greatly benefit the namecoin-environment.

On a different note: Does somebody know if www.namecoin.org is legit? It has a wide range of wallets available for downloads but I can't find credits on that site... which makes it suspicious to me.

Thanks.

Though namecoin.org implies it, it is NOT the official homepage. The official homepage is http://namecoin.info where there are windows binaries. Also somewhere on this forum there are unofficial mac binaries from maxpower.

@ mumung

this is the maxpower version, phelix is talking about. its unofficial and not
thoroughly tested. so the usual trial first and use at own risk caveats apply.
